If you were a Challenger SRT, what color would you be? Part2
Yes, yes...you would be BLACK.
I tried everything else and it has to be said, black is THE color. I found a dealer with a huge selection of Challengers and it quickly became evident that it had to be an SRT8, not the RT, and it HAD to be black. See for yourself:
This is THE car. I got them within $800 of what I wanted to pay, but I walked. Going on the road, if it's still there when I return, I'll take another shot at it.
SRT8 with no real options, except it comes without the hood stripe I like the clean look better. They were also offering $2K in dealer accessories, so I might use that to upgrade to the SAT NAV system and of course get the requisite over-priced floor mats.
The sound and torque from the 6.1 Hemi is light years beyond the 5.7. Plus the 5.7 has the cylinder deactivation which you should not be able to notice, but you can feel it...and you can definitely hear the difference. The SRT seats are bolstered better & comfy!!!
BTW, HOLY SH*T those brembo brakes are fantastic! They will haul that baby down quick.

I`d do some nasty things to get my hands on a car like that
Honey Badger FTW!!!

That's one helluva car, and that is THE color. Hope the deal works out.
Didn't Michael Chiklis drive that on The Shield?

I had Niki with me which was a good thing.
1) She doesn't let me settle. I had convinced myself that I should just get a plain jane RT, and she knew I had originally wanted an SRT. She made sure I looked at the full range and I ended up back in the SRT...especially after I drove it again. Done deal...SRT it is.
2) She NEVER rushes into deals, so I can thank her for the last $950 they took off their offer; but, even then, she's like "no matter what, we are not buying today." But I knew if I could have gotten another $1K, she would have been in.
If she had not been there, I might have stayed away from the SRT & paid a little more for it.
As far as the color, we were both against getting black but after an hour at the first dealer, we both decided black was the only color to get. She said maybe it will induce me to wash my car more often.

Re: If you were a Challenger SRT, what color would you be? P
Seems like 50% of the dealers within a hundred miles have at least one black SRT8, but almost all of them are loaded to the gills. I'm guessing most folks buying the top of the line car want a top of the line car, i.e. with everything on it.
This was the only "plain jane" SRT8 I found. Plain Jane just means they shipped it without the hood stripe and it lacks SAT NAV and the big speaker package, but it still has everything else...Sirius SAT radio, 30 GB HD, UConnect (for linking phones), an iPod link & I can control the iPod through the steering wheel controls. OH, and did I mention the 425HP 6.1 Liter HEMI...Yeah!!!
Not quite as technology sweet as Rick's Audi, but enough to keep me happy. PLUS with the $2K in "Mopar Bucks" they give you for dealer accessories, I can get the SAT NAV if I really want it.
The suspension on the SRT is much tighter than the RT, but thanks to the weight and length "advantage" it has over the Mustang & Camaro, it is still a very easy & stable ride. Not draining at all.
It even has some kind of performance computer that will time & record 1/8 & 1/4 miles, skid pad g-force, braking distance, and some other things that will get me into trouble.
I still can't say enough about those Brembos...that were fantastic!
So fingers crossed it is still there when I return from my trip since I don't think I want anything other than this, but if it's gone; I'll just have to find another black SRT and start haggling again.
We'll just see if I get any real separation anxiety. Then I'll know I need to go to the bank as soon as I return home.

Black is indeed the only way to go, even with it's negatives.
So what kind of rubber do they put on those? So e of the regular ones look a little under-tired for me ( same with the competition ).
Fingers crossed for you.

Orange....had a '70 Challenger for a little bit, but the small block went and then I came to my senses and realized I didn't need a muscle car here in New England winters! Good luck though I like the new ones a lot!

Dude, black looks the business when you see one of these out on the street. Totally badass.
Brembo makes some serious hardware too.

Re: If you were a Challenger SRT, what color would you be? P
THE DEAL IS DONE.
I managed to squeeze a few hundred more out of them. What he won't take off the price, I got them to take off the accessories plus the prefunctory free oil/filter changes. I finished the bulk of the paperwork last night; but, left the vehicle so it could be properly cleaned (by them), and so we can come by in the daylight and I can let Niki go at it for imperfections & whip up her punch list.
We found a few small scratches last night, plus a scratch on the windshield which was not there last weekend. I want to be sure both parties (us and the dealer) agree to everything that needs fixing.
So sometime tomorrow I will post up some pics...of my 425HP commuter car
Watch funds have now become fuel funds

I'd pick whatever color would get me the highest trade-in value to buy a Camaro!

Re: If you were a Challenger SRT, what color would you be? P
Plastic dealer tag...gone.
Window tint...will be done eventually.
It still needs to go back to the dealer for a few things. As part of negotiations, I got them to upgrade the stereo head unit to the SAT NAV unit at cost; plus, I am having their parking assist system installed - also at cost (the ultrasonic warning system, so I don't back this baby into a tree or something).
They are also swapping out the windshield. Sometime while I was gone the windshield got scratched, so I'll probably get the windows tinted at the same time they have a glass guy in to do the windshield.
All I need to do now is put a supercharger on it to force those mpg numbers into the single digits.
I like the hands free Uconnect system (bluetooth) for the phone. I tell the car, "Call Tom Jones." Next thing I know the car is asking me if I want to call his home or his mobile.
The thing even has a HDD so I can load my porn into the car.
That 425HP came in real valuable as I crawled through DC gridlock this morning ...but at least I had a roof over my head in the rain. It is not Harley weather here in the NE today, and the Jeep is officially dead...so I was FORCED to drive my new toy. (At least that's what I told Niki.)

Re: If you were a Challenger SRT, what color would you be? P
The hardest thing about the car is not pushing down with your right foot ALL THE TIME.
That 6.1 liter HEMI just sounds so sweet and pushes you back in your seat. Makes me wonder how nice it would be with the 6.4 liter version.
It's not the old 7 liter (426CI) version, but it's got WAY more power than the old Cooper. It's been a lot of years since I had a performance V8...I don't know how I ever learned to live without that power.
Wait...now I remember...the tickets. The accidents. The cost when the engine grenaded itself. The gas. The tickets.
