You know it's income tax time.Well just got my state income refund check.I put it in the saving account and when I get the refund from the Feds that's were that ones going.I use to go on a watch buying spree when I got my income tax refund.But I have one to many watches to wear and I have 4-5 favorites that I am happy with even giving it some thought of putting a few that don't get any wrist time up for sell who knows you mite see some in the sells section.I mite even sell some of the pocket watches I got a lot of those.How many get to the point were you are happy with what you have and it's time to stop looking for the next better and cooler looking watch out there.I think it's time for me to start saving for the big move to Montana.I got some property out there just need to build the house on it just keep on putting it off the more I save for it the faster that will happen.That Speedmaster I just got just mite be the last watch that I bought for some time.How many of you are slowing down in this habit of buying watches.

Count me as one. There are still quite a few watches that I want, I'm just tired of buying watches on a whim and then flipping them a couple weeks later. Have been able to try out some really cool stuff the past couple of years, but I'm going to put a lot more thought into the next couple that I buy and hope that there all keepers. I've also found that I prefer quality over quantity. After picking up the PO a couple of days ago and still having the Sub, it's gonna be awhile before anything else shows up at the house.....well, except for maybe a G or two but do those really count?

I can say that I am not there. I am now to the point as to where I want the SOTC to be. With the recent acquisition of the Bronze Polluce, I am happy where I am heading now than I was 4 years ago. Like you, I may put some of my collection up for sale to help with the extra cash flow.

I'm definitely slowing down. I haven't brought anything new into the collection since '09.

I have a 1943 Waltham pocket watch incoming then that's IT for me, I swear.
Oh, except for a Railmaster for my 70th, or sooner.

Me too. Now that I have my GSAR I'm pretty happy. It fills all the criteria I was requiring.

I'm even pondering selling my Omega just to put away some cash since I rarely wear it anymore.

Yes, slowing down after my tuna arrives and I find myself a 750T pro.
Then I'm done, and selling off the herd and keep only the ones I wear.
No more drawer queens. I want only rotational collection.

I thought I was done, then fell back in pretty heavily recently.
I get my IWC 3536 tomorrow and I'll have a really solid set of 6 dive watches:
Z Sea-Dweller, UTS 2000 (blue), Doxa 5000t, SMP 2255.80, PVD D-Watch and the IWC which I've lusted for eternally.
That's a far better set of watches than I ever imagined I'd have and I'll chill for quite a while I think.

(Though I DO need a chronograph, a pilot's watch and a Datejust......)

The only thing keeping me from buying a slew of watches is a severe lack of funds, as well as a potential big catch later on in the year.

at least you are getting a refund... I don't want to even guess how much my tax bill is... never mind buying watches...

What I do is pay extra with the House payment and they put it in a escrow account and the taxes get paid that way you have less money through the year but I don't have to come up with it all at once when the bill comes.You mite give that a try.It works for me.

I'm completely happy with what I have. The only ones that really still appeal to me would be a Speedy Moonwatch, Longines Legend Diver and another DOXA (maybe a vintage 300 Pro). Aside from those, I think I can satisfy any jones with an occasional sub 1K beater type watch.

In a lot of ways I feel like I'm just starting collecting in earnest after lots of flipping to figure out what I like long term and etc. :shifty: Right now I'm very happy with the Resco and Seawolf, and think short term I'll be getting some affordables (Seiko SNZH55J, maybe a G?) while I think about what's next. :shrug: Would like a good sport dress watch, chrono, and more in-house stuff in the long run. This year I'd be happy to have what I've got + 1 or 2 1k-ish pieces...Stowa Seatime or OS300 maybe...but who knows... :raised:

I'm content with my collection, after I get a Panerai, Rolex 1675 pepsi, vintage Seamaster 300, then some JLCs, an AP or two, and a Lange.

If I slow down any more, I'll be a glacier... :shifty: Possibly one more watch purchase this year, but not likely. Almost all of my disposable income is diverted elsewhere. :shrug: The only thing on my long term radar is the UTS 3000m. I don't know when I'll be able to swing it, but someday she will be mine.

I am feeling the 'less is more' philosophy lately also. Unfortunately the couple of watches that I would like to fit into this ideal cost MOOOAAR money :shock:

For me, I just want to get watches that I will never want to sell. When I really scrutinise what I currently have, my PO is really the only one that is safe from trade or sale :think:

Hmmm....l did, but started buying again. Probably going to sit for a bit now. Thankfully Taxes went well, but instead of another watch, I am dragging the girls on a vacation for spring break.
