Some Pics , Finally . . .
. . . my daughter did her homework, in fact she no doubt tracked Dad on the boards to find this one, and finished off 2010 quite nicely for me.
I purposely set out last January to make it an all Seiko year for '10. And I in fact succeeded, she iced the cake nicely! Why, you may wonder (or you may not) would I want all Seiko for a year? Simple in my terms of thinking . . . after drowning in Kool-Aid at another forum and ending up with a bunch of sub-par watches that carry no cache', no after value and nearly no quality .. . . . it was easy to see I needed to learn, and I needed to play safely.
SO, as stated, to finish 2010 I have a Samurai now. Black dial, stainless on bracelet. Just a touch over 42mm, 14mm thick with a pedestrian (but reliable and solid) 7S35 non-hacking/non-hand winding date only movement. Overall the Samurai is typical Seiko fare in this price range as far as the overall fit and finish go, the case is well done with a nicely thought out combination of polished and brushed surfaces. The bracelet is decent, . . . but not great either . . . not rattley, stamped steel clasp (meh) with a polished centre line and brushed outer edges. The stainless model is pretty hefty, I can understand why the Ti version is so popular. The dial has a nice " tight waffle grid" pattern pressed in it, the indices are flat and have chrome flanking the all too well known Seiko stellar lume. The hands are done in a similar fashion, the seconds hand tipped in red . . . I love red. Back to the fit and finish, the endlink fit to the case is a little short of what Seiko generally puts on the market, it could be better. The black IP finish and knurling on the bezel and crown are a nice contrast and well done.
This ain't no big dollar deal guys, but after stepping on my dick with the shit that I bought prior to my devotion to the Church of Seiko . . . I'm learning to crawl before I try to run!!!
A few of my famously average at best pictures . . . .
. . . a great 2010, finding DWC made it fun, here's to an equally great 2011!!!!!

Can't go wrong with a Sammie.
Seiko does need to pitch that cheap generic clasp they use on everything. Even the $2500 Brightz diver has the same cheap stamped clasp. My $125 Orient diver came with a nice forged clasp.

. . +1. Biggest let down for a Seiko product. Not like it will fall apart, but it could easily be so much better.

It's a great watch Randy. I had 3 of them until very recently. I didn't really like the titanium one at first but it grew on me. My only gripe with the steel ones is the hands, too thin for my liking so I changed them, but I'm not a fan of any Seiko hands for some reason. Enjoy.
Re: Some Pics , Finally . . .
Congrats! Nice pick up.
I agree about the clasp, but my pet peeve with Seiko is the 20mm lugs. Solid, well built watches!
Happy New Years people!

The Samurai has 22mm lugs. I wear mine on the GGB Bremont strap because I am not really a bracelet guy.fastward wrote:Congrats! Nice pick up.

There's no shame in owning Seiko - I think they're one of the best bang for the buck around...
