White Speedmaster

Post by jswing » Tue Mar 05, 2024 4:07 am

Omega is releasing a white Speedmaster. I imagine it'll be difficult to get one for a while, but I think it looks amazing.

Love it. Crazy to think a non-LE is that much but seems worth it.

I am a fan. Lacquered white dial with balck markers and red accent framed by the black bezel are great aesthetically speaking. Much better for me than the standard speedy.
Ill own one I’m pretty sure but not at 8100$

For sure. I remember buying a new Speedmaster at an AD for $1600. Those were the days..

One photo seems to show grey hands, not black like the Hodinkee photos. Maybe just bad lighting?

The polished handset on your PO looks black like that in your pics sometimes, too.

This one will be a huge seller, and hopefully available for a little less on the secondary someday.

Weird. Both the Monochrome and Hodinkee articles specifically state that the handset, indices and logo are black.

Glossy black surfaces can reflect light to appear polished at certain angles.

This is magnificent.
I never understood why people go crazy with Daytonas when there was a (IMO) vastly superior option at a much lower price.
Now that it comes in white, I will understand it even less

About the only things the Daytona offers (besides the absurd wait list at Rolex ADs) is a smaller overall size, which might appeal to those who are looking for that sort of thing, and a crazy resale price if one were inclined to part with it down the road. Newer model Speedy Pros definitely do not retain their retail value on the secondary market. Chalk one up for artificial scarcity, I guess.

Being the owner of a 3861 Speedy, I'm admittedly biased, but I like the Omega better overall as a timepiece. To my eyes, it's more readable at a glance, and it's hard to beat that historic pedigree.

I like this white Soeedy, but don’t know understand why Omega can’t give us a basic 3-hand model with this color combo. How about enamel white dial Railmaster with black markers & hands, tapered bracelet, 150m water resistance, and adjustable clasp?

Looks like pricing on this one is going be Rolex-like for awhile. Been thinking about a change-of-pace from my Great White.

Any of you Omega experts have any thoughts on the older speedmasters with white dials, like the Broad Arrows (3851.20.12)?

Yep. As with anything shiny and new, if you want to be the first kid on the block to own something, you're going to pay full price.
