Blancpain x Swatch Sept 09

Post by rockmastermike » Fri Sep 01, 2023 6:58 pm

Making its way around the inter webs is this press release photo….looks like the crown outline of a Fifty Fathoms

(If you remember, the moon swatch also used the Speedmaster crown outline In its marketing)

We will see on Sept 09

I wouldn’t be opposed to a BP Swatch, because that’s the only way I can afford a BP.

Not too excited because the moon swatch turned out to be a plastic turd that left paint marks on people’s wrists.

Swatch has their own lane but when they collaborate with high end brands, they are turds imho.

I was super excited for it, tried to get one at first. Then I saw how it was leaving paint on people’s wrist so I just classified it under shit.
I bet it’s not horrible but I truly stopped looking at them after seeing those reports.
It does look nice when I see people post them.

It would be nice to be able to by this stuff direct and online as opposed to being encouraged to wait in line. After finally making it to both the NYC and Montreal flagship swatch store, I still could not get one :raised:

Got one while in SF over the summer. Granted not all were available. They had 4 to choose from. Walked right in.

Nah, you’re a baller and BP takes a big hit on resale outside of the random LE.

I like to think I'm all for making higher end brands sort of kind of accessible, but I don't know if BP has the same appeal as Omega. Just seems like a more niche brand IMHO, so we'll see.

Maybe that’s on purpose.
The want to bank on the success of the Moonswatch and introduce BP to a much wider audience.
I think (just anecdotal from observation) at least 10% of those who own a Moonswatch also are in the market (or possess) higher end watches such as Rolex Omega etc.
It’s like free advertisement for BP

I think you nailed it. I refer to them as gateway drugs.

Sounds like there will be several version, just like the MoonSwatch, but since they will be sold in the same way we won’t be able to get one.

I think this release is going to be another glorious mess, and I will enjoy watching from the sidelines.

Just wait a few months.

Phase 1 - all sold out, people fighting in lines, a great example of humans acting like primates.

Phase 2- re-listed on forums and eBay for 5x actual price.

Phase 3- people realize what they actual are and eventually get sold for original price or less.

I wonder about this. There is a pretty good general awareness in society that Omega's were worn on the moon. I think the average person doesn't even know that Blancpain makes watches?

The good news is that these clown watches will be MIC just like swatch spoody so you'll be able to pick them up for nothing from 3rd shift production
