Hamilton lume is meh, but they’re nice solid watches.deepcdvr wrote:Looking for something under a grand.
Ideas? I saw a Hamilton but the lume on that one sucks
Henry, you’re a good man - really appreciate the gesture, but the kid (he’s 6’6” btw) just made Lieutenant Commander and he’s wife makes 70 bucks an hour working for Orion - they are doing well financially - he just doesn’t want to spend that money on a watch
Countdown bezel - even better lumed - Ares really does hit all the wickets
That is badass…Ryeguy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:47 pmAlpina, Midos, and Certina have the most cost conscious true GMT movement watches on the market (next to the new Seiko GMT movement I guess).
A great option would be an Alpina Alpiner4 GMT with a custom bezel insert.

This guy except with a countdown bezel insert would be perfect.
Thanks Tom but he needs a countdown bezelAtomicTom wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 7:46 pmPaul, I’m betting the Hamilton might grow on you with the lume,
and work for you. Because it is tough finding a GMT having a
countdown bezel. And I thought the Fortis Cosmonauts just
might be a good one at first. But wow, that one is way above the
$1000 sir. ..But I did find this Traser called the Pathfinder.
Might this work for you?

Thank you. I've found it to be an accurate, well wearing, watch that punches well above the cost I paid for it. (I bought it from either Ashford or Joma and I'm pretty certain it was well under $1K - probably closer to $700.)deepcdvr wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 4:29 pmThat is badass…Ryeguy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 06, 2022 2:47 pmAlpina, Midos, and Certina have the most cost conscious true GMT movement watches on the market (next to the new Seiko GMT movement I guess).

After thinking about this for far too long, I think you hit the nail on the head with your original post.
Lol the flashlight
I would as well except I’d have to replace the hands - more ‘stick’, less sword, or at lest no skeleton…
Wow! Funny how that worked out. Good for both of you. I had a Hamilton Khaki Aviator GMT. It had a really cool triple crown and an under the glass bezel complication, super sharp looking - but the lume was also subpar. I bet you’re gonna love the Ares. They are beasts.deepcdvr wrote:Wel,l while I was working a deal with Todd for his Ares GMT, which I’m now wearing (thanks again T!!) my son decided to go out and pick this one up
It’s exactly what he wanted, although the lume is subpar.
I didn’t have the heart to tell him about the Ares - which was intended to be a Christmas present. So now I get to sport that bad boy lol
