Wolbrook Skindiver

Post by CarloDWC » Mon Apr 12, 2021 10:56 pm

I got this watch a few weeks ago and loved it from the beginning. This is a Skindiver from a company called Wolbrook. The watch is 40mm wide and has 20mm lugs. The heart is a Meca-Quartz from Seiko and a part from keeping outstaning time, the seconds hand ticks 4 times per second so it seems almost an automatic watch.

In addition it has those features that make a watch great like sapphire crystal, drilled through lugs, great legibility and nice lume.

The specs are here:

https://wolbrook.com/collections/skindi ... artz-watch

I really loved overall expect for one thing, I did not like the shape of the seconds hand. The color was a little funny too but the shape was really bothering me. The watch otherwise is very nice, well made, light, comfortable and good looking in my opinion. It has a little vintage vibe that kind of reminds one of simple old days, in fact this is so simple it does not have a date function.

Anyway, since I liked it a lot I found a seconds hand that I could swap the original with, not very common because the dial being more then 20mm wide required a second hand 15mm long. I bought two, one blue and one chrome. I opted to try the blue one first, it seems to work really well.

I know this is an affordable and nothing special but I think it is a great watch and so I thought to share a few pics.

I lika one a lot Carlo, it's right up my street, vintage vibe, very legible and no date .
I see what you mean about the original second hand not looking quite right. I've not owned a meca-quartz watch yet but would definitely give that one a go.
On the downside, it's assembled in France :crybaby:

Looks good Carlo. The blue seconds hand works well.

Thank you for the kind words. I did not mention it but the rotating bezel with the different time zones also is very cool and useful and also easy to understand.

That's a good looking watch. Doesn't break the bank either

Looks great Carlo. I didn't mind the original second hand, but that blue one does look better. I almost bought one, I could use a quartz, but I personally would have preferred a dive bezel, because I use my bezels all the time. And unlike you, it doesn't even occur to me that I could change it.

Jeff, bezel does have 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 squeezed in and a little triangle at zero...

nice job, Carlo! good looking watch!

Thank you and yeah, it is affordable and that makes me happy!

It clearly shows me that one does not need to break the bank to have a nice watch and enjoy it...

You're right, good eye! I didn't even notice that. It's tiny, but at least it's there. I may give them another look, I know they have autos with regular diver bezels, but in this case I think I'd prefer quartz.

I think that they have a model with the black bezel which makes reading the tiny numbers a bit easier...

Carlo, you know, you wouldn't think these new Wolbrooks could get any
nicer, but you found a way to do just that ! :excited: :salute: Am wondering if you
might just be the very first to mod a Wolbrook. :o To be honest, there is a
huge chance that you are, and it is awesome ! :headbang: I mean the watch
in stock form actually does seem special to me. But you somehow always
manage to make watches even more special, and more dynamic. Just the
way this second hand brings in an extra shot of sportiness is perfect !

Hey, and it matches up just right with the spectacular blue lume also to
tell the truth. Which I am sure you already knew. ..Great job sir, and
great get !! ..Wishing you a COLOSSAL congrats Carlo !!! Keep on enjoying !
