Looks great but won't be spending 6 grand. Will make do with something like an 007 mod for now.
You can probably get it under $5K if you get a decent discount at an AD.

I like it a lot.... would prefer it to be a little thinner. Omega can't seem to get the Coax movement thickness down. Didn't these wear awkward due to lug to lug length?
This design would be perfect at a BB58 size. Omega is missing out on having no divers for people that like slim 40mm or less watches.
I think these would work better at 39mm. I think Peter had a 39mm LE version FS here recently. I do like that second hand though. I tried to get one when I had my SM300, but apparently you can't buy Omega parts.

The bronze gold looks stunning, but I'm guessing the price tag will be too. At 37% gold, it's 9kt in gold terms.

I'm pretty sure I've read that the coax movements themselves aren't all that thick, so the case thickness appears to be strictly a design choice for some reason. In this instance, I'm sure the sandwich dial adds to it.
Some of it is design choice for sure, but at least the 8500 wasn't a thin movement:
Omega Cal 8500/8501: 29mm diameter 5.5mm thickness (5.6mm for Cal 8501)
Omega Cal 1120: 25.6mm diameter 4mm thickness
Omega Cal 2500: 25.6 diameter 4.1mm thickness
Omega Cal 1164 (ETA 7750): 30mm diameter 7.9mm thickness
Of course, Rolex managed to stuff an even thicker movement into the fairly thin 14060M
Rolex Cal 3135: 28mm diameter 6mm thickness
and Daytona
Rolex Cal 4130: 30.5mm diameter 6.5mm thickness
The Daytona is particularly interesting, because the watch itself is pretty thin. Of course, only 100 meters WR.
Have you ever tried on a SS Daytona? It wears wonderfully. I think I paid, at the time for me, the astronomical price of $10,000 for mine and I have never once regretted it. It's the perfect watch for someone who likes smaller watches.
I've owned 3 (all white dials) and sold them all. I agree that it wears wonderfully, especially with the newer clasp. It's cliche, but it really looks great dressed up or down. But the legibility was poor to mediocre depending on the light, and the no date thing killed it for me like it always does. A watch I wanted to like a lot, but ultimately just didn't do the trick for me.
Of course, if I had known what was going to happen in the time since I sold my last one, I would have sucked it up.

I'm with you Peter, these look fantastic really !
And the finish is neat right?!
It actually does look like a hybrid of the two. ..It's a little muted kind of sir.

I love everything but the arrow hand. If this had sword hands I might be a player.

i don't know. i feel like if you swapped the arrow hands for sword hands, it really wouldn't be a seamaster 300 any more. it would be a different watch. that's like saying, "the U1 needs to ditch the lego hands."

SM300s have used all the different handsets, from this broad arrow, to pencil sword hands, and then the broad sword hands we associate with the issued watches (and WatchCo’s). I love those.

fair enough. maybe i should have said modern SM300? or is that overstating it? this release would seem odd to me with different hands.

These modern watches have all been reinterpretations of the 1957 broad arrow Seamaster. Then Omega released that trilogy set which was a more faithful reissue of the ‘57 Seamaster, Railmaster, and Speedmaster. So, you’re probably not the only one that sees this as the SM300 handset.

If Omega ever re-releases this one I won't be able to resist.
