Longines Legend Diver with Gradient Blue and Brown dials

Post by AtomicTom » Thu Feb 11, 2021 9:49 am

Guys, it looks like Longines Week is continuing with another new one. :)

Not sure if everyone had a chance to see the Legend Diver with new
gradient blue, and brown dials already.

These latest Legend Divers have details like 42mm polished stainless
steel cases, 300m WR, box style sapphire crystals, inner rotating bezels
with 60-min scale, gradient blue or brown lacquered dials with SLN coated
Rhodium-plated hands, and markers, the Calibre L888.5 automatic, plus
nice leather straps as well.

Some pics for you...

Those are cool, but I wish they'd hit pause on the dial variations and bring back the black dial no-date version instead.

I love these. I tried on a black dial a few years ago and the long lugs just looked ridiculous on my wrist.

They got it right the first time.

Grumpy! I love me some blue to black gradients if they are done well. I find the dark outer dial helps the indices stand out better than they would with a universally lighter colored dial. Maybe it is just my old eyes....

That said, I agree they seem to be everywhere today and getting to the "too much of a good thing" position.

Piss lume, however, remains the low point in recent watch design elements in my book. It is almost universally done poorly, and even when someone gets close to decent color mix, they go and pair it with a white date wheel :puke:

fucking seriously. the no-date was super popular, hard to get, and sells for a premium now. why let all the speculators and collectors make money on these? rerelease them, they weren't LEs.

sometimes it boggles my mind when you see companies leave $$ on the table like that.

Iove these, particularly the brown at least in photos but I wished these were no date. The long lugs and lug hole placement makes it wear odd mg wrist and there is a large gap between strap and case.

It’s a watch that doesn’t work on my wrist, and I prefer the no date, but that brown dial is beautiful.

and fix the lugs. Better yet, I wish IWC would just bring back the vintage Aquatimer, although with the inflationary pricing of watches these days, I wouldn't be able to afford it

I had one but, despite my 7" flat wrist that seems to work pretty well with larger watches, the VAT wore a bit like a dinner plate on me. It looked great when sitting in the watch box, but I just didn't like the way it looked on my wrist. Of course YMMV.

I had the same experience with my VAT. It was a looker and nice calibre too
