Seiko King Turtle Military II
Seiko King Turtle Military II
Well, as much as I liked the first project there was something that was nagging me. I decided to change it over a bit and this time use all Seiko OEM parts. I installed a set of hour and minute hands from a Seiko Stargate model and then to keep in touch with the original look I used the original seconds hand with the gold color paint.
Here is how it turned out. Much better match and perfect lume...

It looks great. If you come across any more of those Stargate hands let me know. Maybe we can do some trading.

Really did turn out terrific Carlo, and love how these hands
are working their magic here ! ..On the one hand,
the match up with the look, as well as bold feel of the markers.
Then on the other, I swear they team up with the really neat
grid pattern of the dial as well. ..It’s some kind of combo !
Taking the bold, along with fun to another level. With the gold
seconds adding a terrific touch of class. It’s Yet another master
stroke sir, and one that once again manages to take your, or my
breath away. Amazing as always Carlo ! Well done, and a
HUGE congrats on another beauty !!!

Thank you for the kind words. These Stargate hands are some of my all time favorite. Of course they discontinued those models so not too many around.
I will certainly let you know Chris, if I get a spare set or if some pop up.
Tom, I am glad you like it, I have to say - the gold second hand really caught my fancy and even though there is only a little gold in the writing on the dial, it still somehow fits.

Carlo, just that little touch of gold actually has a big impact. It's phenomenal !!!

Well, while I love this watch I thought I would want to improve it with a domed sapphire. The original crystal, sapphire with the cyclops, is recessed and about 1mm lower then the bezel. Because it is flat I did not care for it. Even without the cyclops the crystal was still flat and lower so I decided to improve the overall look by installing a low dome sapphire crystal. While you can't see very well in my poor pictures, it surely is a great improvement for me.
By the way, I think that not only the King Turtle dial is nice but the lume is definitely better, brighter and longer lasting then normal Turtles. The bezel is already a favorite of mine in looks and feel. So this and the black one, are both awesome Seikos.

Yet another ingenious idea with the crystal Carlo. What's so neat, is it
seems like a small thing, but it makes such a big difference right?! Incredible !!!
Actually is breathtaking from every angle here, and oh, yeah, the lume really
does look exceptional. ..Exceptional lume for an exceptional mod Carlo !!!
It's so much fun seeing you come up with new ideas for this stunner honestly.
In a way, it's possible for this watch to always be changing, and transforming
right?! ..It's kind of like a collection in itself.
Unbelievable sir ! ..Thanks so so much for the update !!!

Thank you for the kind words. I really think the higher crystal makes it almost perfect for me...
Then again the Turtle is in my opinion, the best base watch I have ever used for projects. I know this is a an aspect of this hobby that only a part of the WIS world is interested in, but I am definitely loving this.
