New to me

Post by goaliechris » Sat Sep 26, 2020 6:46 am

Decided that now was the time and sold my Deepsea for this 1971 Rolex Red Sub. The bracelet is not original but the rest is in good order. Getting the final word from my local jeweler but bought it from HQ Milton so feel confident it will check out. Really happy with it.

Congratulations! I saw that in WRUW and knew you made a big deal.

Thanks all - have been thinking about it for years, the birth year Red Sub. I wasn’t wearing the DS that much - it was my second go around with that one and my wrist just can’t pull it off. Though no complaints about the comfort of it - a great watch. Just not for me.

Wonderful pickup! I too was looking for a Red Sub or DRSD, but unfortunately for me, they are just a bit too small for my wrist. That being said, I still lust after these. Lol

Congrats on picking up a birth year- that is huge!

Unbelievable Chris, and can you believe the amazing shape that it is in?!! :o :headbang:
Whomever had this watch must have been so nice to it, and really taken
care not to beat it up. Just is astonishing ! :salute: But that seems to go along
with the whole theme of the watch, so it's not surprising. Between the epic
dial, and bezel, and of course case, and the added awesome bracelet, you
immediately have a showstopper ! Wow, can't even imagine how happy you
have to be right now.

I know that I'm really happy for you on this end, and hope you really enjoy
this masterpiece.  What a get Chris ! BIG congrats there 2 U !!!

Can’t add much to what’s already been said. Congrats!

Love that top hat crystal.

If HQM didn’t do it, it’s probably worth a pressure test and a check on the gaskets. Not that you’re going to swim with it necessarily, but I’d want to make sure that the water resistance was good.
