I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong

I don't know about Zelos, but the IWCs are ceramic not carbon fiber, AFAIK.
Panerai has something they call Carbotech, which is a carbon fiber-based composite. I think that Richard Mille, Hublot, and Zenith also make carbon fiber cases.
Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
I own a Luminox Master Carbon 3802 and even her the bracelet is made from a carbon bar not powder carbon. This is the most value for money for a carbon watch IMHO.

Victorinox Icon Carbon is my favorite of those I think
Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
Breitling has their “Breitlite” composite material, which is supposed to be a carbon-resin type thing as I understand it.

^ I probably would have bought this if it wasn't for the stupig lug system

Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
Carbon fiber IS a gimmick much like GS Zaratau polish.
It’s simply sheets or powder carbon fiber glued together with epoxy and exposed to pressure. I used to make micarta using a custom jig with clamps. You could likely buy a block of carbon fiber, G10, or carbon fiber from knife making supply and 3D print a watch case which would only require light belt sanding and tooling.
Not saying it’s not cool but it shouldn’t be as expensive as it is.

Some good ideas.
I want “inexpensive”.
The inox doesn’t look bad. You can get pretty cheap. Anyone ever have it?
Luminox can also get cheap.
What you guys think about tempest? H2O Kalmar?

I agree in terms of watches. Adding a little carbon to plastic resin does nothing for a watch. Forged carbon = injection molded plastic.sierra11b wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:08 amCarbon fiber IS a gimmick much like GS Zaratau polish.

Lüm-Tec made one a few years ago. I think it was one of the Combat models.

Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
Really is different sir. Plus any one of the CF watches out there have to be comfortable/light.
Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
I was wondering who was the first to manufacture carbon case watches? Luminox?

Re: Carbon fiber / forged carbon watches - what options are out there?
Interesting about carbon fiber, but how is GS Zaratsu polishing a gimmick? Isn’t it about hand finishing as opposed to machine?sierra11b wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:08 amCarbon fiber IS a gimmick much like GS Zaratau polish.
