23mm Straps

Post by Zidane » Wed Sep 02, 2020 5:57 am

Hey guys - I decided to keep the Bathyscaphe after wearing it the past few days. Too cool / rare of a watch to let go...

My biggest gripe is that it doesn't have a bracelet and there's no getting around that given the ceramised Ti case...nothing else would match.

Second biggest gripe is the 23mm lug size. Any leads on where to get good 23mm straps? I've bought a few from Barton - the rubber works really well - but haven't been able to find a good source for the 23mm size anywhere else.

Any ideas on other good places to get quality 23mm straps?

The 23mm lugs was one of the reasons I sold my steel one. Erika's Originals makes a few in 23mm. I still have a couple of the OEM nato's I converted to zulu that don't have a home.

What straps are you looking for? What material? What do you mean by quality? Barton is a reseller of $1.99 junk from Alibaba.
BP makes 23mm rubber strap for BPFF if you want rubber.

My kingdom for good 23mm straps! I am now down to 2 23mm lug BPs, but had three at one point. I have resorted to custom straps or 24mm isofranes or other rubber straps. The barton canvas comes in 23mm and works fairly well on my ceramic bathy. Will take a pic and post later.

I have 2 23mm Nato's from Terry. Excellent quality and exactly 23mm so no need to squeeze/bunch up or show shiny springs with 22mm in both cases looking like shit. Highly Recommended.
Alibaba "canvas" which Barton, Richie, and a few others resell is cheesecloth painted in different colors, it's not even technically canvas.
Some Alpinas and Victorinox have 23mm lug models and have a variety of 23mm OEM looking quality straps.

I'm a fan of the sailcloth straps that BP makes. They match well and are comfortable.

I had the BP rubber, not a fan.

Here is the 23mm Barton canvas on my BP. Since the BP is on the lighter side, I don't mind the thinner canvas. Would prefer more of a taper to the buckle, but for the $$ it is not a bad strap at all and I have toyed with getting a couple others. And the integrated spring bars are much better than others I had encountered.
