WRUW - FRIDAY 8/28/20
Best Seiko I’ve owned. Over 20 days of combined wrist/winder time, she’s +1.4 spd. Everything is perfectly aligned and operates as designed. It reminds me of the Seiko watches I thought were so good back in the late 70’s. Well done Seiko!

Re: WRUW - FRIDAY 8/28/20
It’s been a long and hard week.
Major proposal due on Monday next week, catching up from being out of town, and managing an excavation guy who was building an RV parking pad in the backyard for us and he could not seem to follow direction or remember what he bid.
In the end, he did a good job but I had to go outside every few hours to check on him even though I had staked out the work area.
Now I just have to build some stairs, add a walking path to the shed, plant some trees/flowering shrubs and have a gate put in.
Best before pic I had on my phone:

Re: WRUW - FRIDAY 8/28/20
Thanks. I worked from 5 to 9:30 last night and 6-7 this morning getting the retaining wall built so he could backfill and spread the gravel. I had to hit the advil and tiger balm last night to stop the forearm cramps from driving rebar nails in to hold the 6x6's together. It's hell getting older.

Switch up to a new arrival from DWC legend Rockmastermike!
I have owned a lot of different types of Rolex submariners (and sea-dwellers) over the last 15+ years, including an old school Kermit, but never pulled the trigger on the Hulk. That was in part because I had other subs and SDs in hand, and in part because I was never 100% sold on the green. I actually traded my trusty black dial SubC Date late last year, which left me with the Smurf and a No Date Sub. Both great and a sub is the clear cut "if I can only own watch" watch for me, but I actually saw a Hulk out in the wild earlier this year and loved the look of it in the sunlight to where I started thinking about it seriously for the first time this winter, but prices were nuts at the time and have of course only gone higher. Still, I pinged RRM about his Hulk a couple weeks ago when he mentioned a potential change in his collection, and he emailed me this week with a price I could live with. I still had to decide whether to pounce before the September 1st announcements, and ultimately decided to go for it as none of my over retail Rolex purchases are underwater no matter how crazy the price seemed at the time.
First impressions on my wrist? Love it, and a welcome change to all the black and blue dials in my collection. I love, love, love the blue dial and bezel on the Smurf, but this green dial and bezel gives the Smurf blue a run for its money (the dial is reminiscent of the sunburst on the BP FF Bathy) without the extra weight and PCLs. It also is a nice change of pace from the 3.5 black dials Sub/SDs I own (counting the DSSD JC as half a black dial watch).
We will see what comes out on September 1st (and what happens to the Hulk), but I figure I will be OK either way and if the new announcement brings something I desperately need, I have more than enough trade ammunition for it!

I know it's overused however, this is one that has to be seen in person.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
