The Hodinkee Eight-Day Travel Clock LE

Post by logan2z » Thu Jul 23, 2020 12:03 pm

New old stock vintage 8-day Swiss movement. 96 pcs. Only $5900 :)

I wonder who will be able to service a Pontifa movement when it comes time??

I almost fell out of my chair.

Who the hell needs this - let alone pay 5900 for a freaking travel alarm clock for someone to steal when left in a room?

At least a JLC Atmos would be interesting on a desk. This not so much.

I'd rather buy a Kobold that never got delivered. At least then I'd have a story about firetrucks, spies, celebrities, and foreign lands.

i always figured they *presold" a lot of this stuff to their buddies... i mean... trust-fund-baby-buddies... errm... suckers before they actually went online. can't take a risk that any of their special releases would last more than a few hours and stop being prestigious.

Seikos yellow track-style desk clock is a fun clock that looks better, lasts longer, more accurate, comes in two sizes, and is a small fraction of the price.

I’ve always wanted a Hamilton and Elgin model 37500 aircraft clock or a navy chronometer. Even those are far cheaper.

Wow. Even by insane Hodinkee LE standards, this one is extreme. Probably the worst offering to date. There is NOTHING redeeming about it.

Like Todd said, you can get a JLC Atmos clock for that much, and nobody considers even that a bargain...

If I had a coffee in hand when I saw the $, I would have spat in it. Also travel clock = watch.

I'm sure even Holiday Inns have a frigging clock beside the bed. Of course it won't have a custom font face designed by a well-known designer...

Yeah, but it's not travel size ;)

But at least there will be someone there to service it should it ever need it. The Hodinkee clock, with it's unserviceable vintage Pontifa movement, will likely be a door stop in a few years.
