I'm going to have to dip into my monocle fund for this one.

This 8 day Dinker-berry should at least have an exhibition case back to show off the haute horology inside... $5900

The comments on IG on the non-clock posts are literally the best shit I’ve seen all year. Chuffed to bits with this one.

Really need one of those. I hate it when I sleep past noon.
No, it's not Tourettes.

Turns out it’s an undecorated crappy movement similar to the Pam 318 scandal a few years ago.

Read elsewhere that rumors on the street are Hodonkey pulled the clock and didn't really sell out.

Re: The Hodinkee Eight-Day Travel Clock LE
I am not sure what I think is worse, the clock itself or the thought it wouldn't get ripped to shreds by the watch community!
I don't think it's a particularly good looking clock. Yes, it reflects the design and function of that period but I don't think this is particularly well done. Its clunky, looks quite large for modern needs and frankly, is boring to look at.
And for $6k? it could have been made quite refined, classy and for those $$$, show off the movement.
I don't doubt there are watch enthusiasts out there who like the idea of a small mechanical clock be it for function or fun but not this.
I don't really follow much about Hodinkee other that what I see on IG or a few blogs but I cant help feeling this more a case of who will buy a Hodinkee product just because its from Hodinkee. They have generated good hype with sell out collabs which is fine but that has not generated enough fire for this to be a sell out product, has it?

You know, apart from the ugly, expensive and useless clock, what amazes me is that they actually thought a hodinkee branded clock/watch (at that price) would be desirable. There have been a couple of very nice collaborations (like the Tag Heuer Skipper), but I just dont see a watch enthusiast buying one (hodinkee enthusiasts would, but there are not many that are more fan of hodinkee that watches in general).

As I mentioned before it’s just amazing how out of touch with reality NYC upper crust really is. With what’s going in the country this is border line thoughtless to introduce something so fn useless and over the top. You got 6K to waste then go donate it somewhereJoeprez wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 10:19 amYou know, apart from the ugly, expensive and useless clock, what amazes me is that they actually thought a hodinkee branded clock/watch (at that price) would be desirable. Seems they removed comments for their clock post. Either that or I’m not looking in the right place. Totally ridiculous.

As attractive, necessary, useful, and appropriate as covering a bowl of pasta with snot. Which is about par for hodinkee these days.

This is coming from a seller who calls his watches "Seiko" in the title and the watches use only aftermarket parts.

A well-written skewering of Hodinkee and their travel clock.

Re: The Hodinkee Eight-Day Travel Clock LE
the only thing wrong with that article is that hodinkee had jumped the shark a while ago. at this point it really almost just trolling the watch community and seeing how many ridiculously stupid at least a handful of people are willing to be with their money.
