Pam Homage almost done
Ok so this Hamilton Pocket-watch movement bug hit me. I had a pilots watch made which I'm wearing and also am having a PAM homage made using a Hamilton 917 movement from this guy http://vintagewatchparts.co.uk/
Thought I'd share some pics of the progress so close:

Oh man Caesar !!! That is crazy good !
So basically all you need now are the hands?
Looks unbelievable already, and just seeing the watch from the back is
ridiculously fun. You should be so proud of how this is turning out.
Boy oh boy ! ..Nice work !

Yeah he has done quite a bit of hand work on this form polishing to fitting the three piece dial, really just top rate stuff. It will be expensive for a homage but it will also be a great vehicle for the gorgeous movement

Looks very cool. Not sure what that first pic is showing. Is he using an old case from some other brand or making the case from scratch out of copper and plating it?

Yes he starts with a stainless case just the case then reshapes it welds it up where needed to achieve the shape and then does his own fixed bezel...spends quite a bit of time on the reshaping of the case, then uses a pantograph machine for the engraving I'm sure I screwed up the name of the machine it's from the 50's

The movement is absolutely beautifully made. I had one put in a pilots watch case, the movement in that case is from 1937 and after cleaning and service it runs at +4sec/day. These old Hamilton movements are just beautifully made from an era when we actually made high quality watch movements in the USA.
It wasn't difficult to have done and all in it's costing me less than a MKII Fulcrum, I also waited less time to get it, lol. The watch ships this coming Tues.

Re: Pam Homage almost done
See the link in my original post all in movement, service of the movement, three piece dial, it ran me $1,200-1,300. You could save some by using a 2 piece dial. So about the cost of a better micro brand. The pilot watch I had made with a Hamilton 917 movement only ran me about $600. A company called Helenarou on EBay has ready made pilot cases, dials, and hands all ready for the Hamilton size 10 movements like a 917Danny_T wrote:That movt is beautiful what would something like that cost all in ?
