San Martin SN027 T1 - Titanium

Image

As like most of you guys, I'm always on the hunt for the next "cool" diver to add to my collection. I've had several San Martin dive watches in the past and have always been very happy with their quality and performance. So when I came across the SN027-T1 I was pretty interested. The size looked good, it had a very interesting original design, it had that eye-catching super domed sapphire crystal and the case was machined from titanium.

I had seen the watch on ebay but also saw it listed at WR Watches out of Hong Kong. I emailed WR Watches with a couple of questions and their communication back and forth was prompt and courteous. If you subscribe to their newsletter you get a $10 discount code, I placed my order and the watch was shipped DHL, it took 5 days to arrive at my doorstep.

Let's get right to it..... I am extremely happy with the purchase! The case has a nicely executed bead blasted sheen finish. The bezel is crisply machined with a beautiful deep black ceramic insert with fully lumed markers. The super domed sapphire crystal is really mesmerizing. It has a slight blue AR coating on the interior and it is visually interesting to view from different angles. The dial is a deep black color with applied hour markers, (I purchased the no date version). Lume is spectacular! It is BGW9 and is amazingly bright and lasts all night long.

There are two movements available, PT5000 and SW200, both are automatic movements. I went for the PT5000 which has been running -4 per day. One thing quirky about the watch is that the caseback is stamped ETA 2824-2. I found out that San Martin originally intended to install the ETA movements and had the caseback manufactured. But the movement deal fell through and they had to purchase other movements.

The Strap is shark skin with a perforated hole pattern, trimmed with a gray cordura type fabric and gray stitching. I was surprised at the quite nice quality. The buckle is custom machined titanium with a hex head screw. Again, I was surprised at the nice quality.

Specs:
Case material: TC4 Titanium
Dimensions: 43mm diameter without crown, 18mm thick including superdome crystal, 50mm lug to lug
Lug width: 22mm
Movement: Automatic PT5000 or SW200

Crystal: Sapphire, 31mm diameter
Bezel: Titanium with black Ceramic insert
Depth rated: 200m
Strap: Shark skin

Let's get to some photos.....

I like this one. Ti case looks really good. Is that a polished bevel on case side or just the light?
Love the super high dome.

I think SM seem to be food value, how much was this one?

I really like how the bezel and crystal curve seems seamless.

Hard to tell on the rest your photos tend to make watches look better than they ever do on my wrist.

Looks outstanding from here Demo, and your remarkable pictures really give
the watch that much more personality. It's spectacular !!! :headbang: :salute:

You can see San Martin thought of everything with these, and then the fit,
and finish is just excellent. I mean you can't see one flaw in the finish, or
anywhere on the bezel, or dial for that matter. :o Seriously, is one gorgeous
looking watch. From the titanium-like bead blasted finish like Jeremy had
pointed out, to that super cool logo on the dial. It does it all ! Even that
stamped ETA 2824-2 case-back adds a great story. A BIG congrats 2 U sir !!!

Hey Matt, It has fit all straps I've tried. One rubber strap needed a little compression up against the case to fit it.

I would say most leather should fit except for ones that are very thick around the springbars.

Thanks Tom. BTW the case, bezel and caseback are titanium.

It is very comfortable, I've worn it every day for over a week now. I'm very happy with it.

It looks good on so many straps.... Isofrane, Tropic, other leathers and Natos. I've settled on a 22mm Bonetto Cinturini 328 rubber Nato with blasted hardware the last couple of days.

I see a few watch styles rolled into one there Dave and that's no bad thing, I like it a lot. Great value for the price too.
Only downside for me personally is that I'm not keen on super domed crystals although I've only ever seen them in photos. I'm going to take a closer look at that brand.

the pack ! 8-)

watch making any strap look good ! :)
