Nivada Grenchen Chrono Aviator Sea Diver
Nivada Grenchen Chrono Aviator Sea Diver
For those that haven't heard, Nivada Grenchen is back and will be offering a reissue of the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver. They are still making tweaks to the design but here are some proposed 3D renderings. Movement still undecided but they indicated a Swiss-made Sellita SW510 BH hand-wound chronograph caliber. Preorders (15% off retail) in June with projected December delivery date. Leather or Tropic 1600€ / Bracelet 1800€.

Those look great, although they might be a bit small for me. I understand that they probably wanted to go for 'vintage' dimensions, though.

Similar to a Sinn 356, which is a very wearable watch.Seppia wrote:I love the first one. 14.5mm thickness on a 38mm case just doesn’t work for me though

pretty close to the original, although it does look kinda chunky

I really like the white dial version. Chunky little beast.

Wow Brian, does Nivada Grenchen know how to make a comeback?
Or what?!
These look unbelievable, and it's something how each version seemingly
is as stunning as the next. It's like they never skipped a beat in knowing
how to hit it out of the park watchmaking wise.
Going to stare at these for a little while if that's alright.
Thanks a ton for the heads up ! ..Don't think I knew about this.

I like it. I don't understand why it is so thick for a handcranker though

Looks promising, really like the first two. Bezel should be slimmer, also crown and pushers look too big.
Also dont understand why so thick. Caseback protrudes a lot for a manual watch.

Completely agree, Joe. They are asking for comments and suggestions on their Instagram site. Several people have commented about making the bezel thinner and using a different movement to reduce the thickness. Hopefully they incorporate these suggestions. Overall a great looking reissue of the original.

Nice looking. Seems like the dial will be really small as that bezel is very wide.

Re: Nivada Grenchen Chrono Aviator Sea Diver
Think a vintage Omega Speedmaster 105.003 40 mm no crown guard so not much difference at 38mm. One thing about a 38-40 mm watch with a bezel ring it makes it look bigger than it is so mite surprise you with it on the wrist. No one complains about the size a 105.003 speedy much so 2 mm not much difference. They did a nice job on this. Here is a Junghans Bund 38mm for size comparison if this is to small on my wrist I am scratching my head. See how the bezel ring makes it look bigger than what it is. Notice the case on the Nivada 38mm case with bezel ring 39mm.

Those are gonna sell like hot cakes.
I love them. I’d prefer a 41mm but 39 isn’t bad. I’ll definitely get one

This watch IMO is right in so many ways. What’s the WR on this watch? Did I I miss it?

Damn, the only watch in 2020 that is pleasing to me.
I’ll definitively follow this one.

Re: Nivada Grenchen Chrono Aviator Sea Diver
I've had my eye on a vintage NG for a while. There's one on Reddit, but he's from Singapore. And it is Reddit.
Analog/Shift periodically gets them.
Top left or bottom right for me.

If Grenchen was a lady’s name, would she have wide hips like this watch’s profile?

I’d love a manual wind, aged lume on tropic...if Santa is listening.

Re: Nivada Grenchen Chrono Aviator Sea Diver
So I did ask for one of these watches for Xmas and hopefully it shows I know she was was on the website so..... Anyways, I remember when you could buy these on Ebay late 2000's all day long different versions for $300.00 wow have vintage prices changed. I gave up when the prices really were way too much for what it is.
I prefer the automatic model over vintage because I know if they were continually produced an automatic would be the current movement it's a no brainer and I'm not buying a vintage either. I also decided on beads of rice because I love beads of rice bracelets and Nivada did make branded versions back in the day so whether they were sold with these or not would be difficult to know. Nonetheless I prefer a branded clasp and can always buy a leather strap to be more original if I want and as far as a tropic can't stand them first thing that would hit the dumpster (forgive me die hard fans).
I do have a vintage Clebar chrono case 39mm x 14mm height (roughly) same size as this and it is the perfect size and it's the only watch people ask me about go figure.
