It looks like the government is gearing up to give some "free money" to people to ease the lockdown. While that seems pretty cool, the fact that I pay a fucking massive amount of taxes and will never see any of that money isn't. On the bright side, at least I owe the federal government an additional $12,000 in taxes.
Haven’t you heard it all goes to responsible poor families and their kids in southern states.

Also making sure I sneak out for a run or a ride on the daily – under the current mandate, both are allowed long as you keep it solo. Looking forward to this all being over, but the world is gonna be a very different place on the other side of this tunnel, that's for sure.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a few weeks ago (my own fault for being overweight; it's been a wake-up call and already getting healthier) and so decided to work from home from yesterday, but then the Government decided to close schools anyway. I don't have a teaching commitment - I'm in charge of special needs - and have plenty I can do at home and via email. My wife's a social worker, and so is still at work. We've refused to be part of the over-buying bullshit, and have so far got what we need (although we did get down to one toilet roll before finding one of the last packs available at our local supermarket). After speaking to a couple of NHS doctors, it appears the UK is preparing to manage a situation much worse than things are right now. Bit worried about my son who is away at uni' - campus is closed but lectures and exams are online - as he's just told me he's had a fever the last couple of days but feels okay now. Difficult times.
Regards

Steve

Keep your chin up. We have an immuno-suppressed family member, so we are doing our best to stay in full lock-down. Day 7 and getting a little stir-crazy, trying not to read the news, etc. Think I'm going to take the convertible for a long drive (80 degrees here).

A little time in this should cheer me up!

Well, NJ got the lockdown order. We knew it was coming and are well prepared. My elderly family is the main concern, brought them a bunch of stuff today.

That, plus our state NICS (which is separate from the national system) is running about 4 days behind at this point and who knows if they’ll shut that down as well. Would be a total NJ move. My FFL is still holding something for me as they deal with the backlog, but perhaps I won’t even be able to pick it up due to the new movement restrictions.

I managed to get a few days off from work so the family and I are self isolating / social distancing in the mountains of NC.

Sarasota county closed all the beaches this morning. Don't know how that's going yet.

I have to be back at work next Friday. My wife the following Monday. Both of us work for the sheriff. Going to get interesting.

My distancing view. Enjoying a nice cigar out here as well. Image

Ah, such suffering to be had when you treat the isolation with some imagination.
Looks awesome.

We kinda went the other way at my house, but still somewhat connected to your post.

I took my son out for a hike in the woods with his Red Rider BB gun.

We used to call this “going on a Tweety safari” when I was a kid.

My mandated due to travel) self isolation started 19 hours ago.
A caring friend shopped for me before I got home.
Never had so much food in the house.
Got enough TP so that I can scrunch and fold if I need to.
Thoughts are with the other self isolators.

It is. They are trying to roll it out incrementally to avoid pissing people off too much. If you've been paying attention, we've been about 3 days behind each intervention happening in California. The State Patrol is already gearing up in the event that they have to escort supply trucks for fear of people attempting to high-jack semis. It's going to be interesting.

Were a week out from school holidays here in Sydney/the State of NSW, schools will close as of Tuesday. I fully suspect the Sydney basin will be locked down by Wednesday.

Bondi beach was closed yesterday mid morning, I know the head life saver Hoppo (Bruce Hopkins, a paddling buddy) who say there were talks last week re closing the beach. I thought it would occur later this coming week, wrong.

Shits happening pretty fast here. But I've lined a number of ducks up in readiness, regardless of anything else I have a stash of Guinness. Out.
Strength is = 2 or > than "tipping over a so- called smart car plastered in “Coexist” bumper stickers".

Been in this area since ‘97 and love it. Still a lot of nature around, but easy access to the mtns and downtown. We are 1/2 way between Green Mtn and Bear Creek Lake Park.

I’m going crazy at home too. I’m about to buy one of those DIY spray foam insulation kits and insulate my garage. I can’t handle not doing something.
