Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
40mm, in-house handwound movement, approx $8K in steel. Available in March.
I love it.
I love it.
Re: Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
That's a beauty indeed! Would have preferred 42/43mm though...

I love everything but the price - I guess it’s a sign of a strong global economy that prices keep escalating.

This. If the price was more in line with say the Black Bay Chrono (which correctly or not is kinda where I view Breitling) I’m reaching for my wallet on this one. At that price??? Nope. That is sharp looking. Like other's have said, the pricing is a bit much.
Re: Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
Not sure on this one beyond the price. I know it's faithful to the original, but I'm not sure I like the original all that much. Something about the proportions with the hands, the dial, and the bezel. I'd want to see it IRL.
Re: Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
Man oh man Andrew, this one is spectacular, and has the vintage feel
down perfectly really.
You would almost swear this is some new old stock find, but instead
it's this ultra cool reissue ! There really is a lot to love about this
one sir. Thanks a ton for posting !!!

Andrea, just look at it as nice cream colored markers which work well on a black dial instead of fake aged lume....

Re: Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
FYI, WatchFred responded to the negative 'fauxtina' comments on Hodinkee:
re the "fauxtina" claim: this is the precise color/texture used in 1953 (or as close as technically possible w/o a time warp); intense research from early color pictures and actual witnesses, people who were present when these watches were launched; the lume is hand applied, trying to "revive" the original as closely as possible, nothing "faux" here. of course it isn't Radium, but SuperLuminova.

can't find anything i don't like on this one, 'cept the price
Re: Breitling 765 AVI 1953 Reissue
According to Watchfred, this is the exact color of lume found on the original period piece. Seems like they have old color photos and interviewed period watchmakers. FWIW.

^^^I saw that above after I posted but I'm still over it and prefer whiter lume. Also that's too much $$$

This^ if you are going to buy any of these in-house breitling's be prepared to keep it... Talk about taking a bath on resale or trades...If this priced like a 58 I would buy one for sure...
