Interesting service response from Breitling

Post by Ruggs » Sat Feb 15, 2020 5:37 pm

Sent in my old aerospace and requested that they swap in one of the newer super quartz movements. Got this letter in response. They installed a new battery and shipped it back to me with no charge.

Better than telling you to pound sand, but that's a little concerning.

Bit odd about the parts thing, but great CS. On the other hand, wonder what the response would have been had the movement completely stopped working?

On the other hand, it might motivate Breitling to do an in-house Aerospace. But probably not.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

The superquartz movement they use is an ETA?

I would think it should drive prices down. Why would you want a watch with an unserviceable movement?

Hopefully they figure something out going forward. Would love an Aerospace for myself soon.

I was told Breitling has halted sales of the Aerospace since they can’t obtain the movements. Figured some buyers just wanted their Aerospace fix and sellers caught on

Like most of their movements I think they tinker with it, but it’s an eta base I believe.

It seems like they care. It's hard to find people that give a shit.

Very good point.

Compare their response with some of the shit you hear about Rolex for instance, makes them look like rockstars Image

I've heard lots of great things about Breitling customer service. Echoing the sentiments above I thought their response in this situation was impressive... especially after dealing with Rolex and Reichmont servicing...

Rolex has the parts to service every relatively modern watch they've made, plus a few generally old ones. I'm not sure, "hey, sorry we don't stock enough parts, or actually make anything, but here's coupon" is superior to actually being able to service a watch.

Indeed. Great service starts with being able to provide it without excuses or delays.

Yep agree - another way to look at the response is poor supply chain management.

Or they could have insisted on getting the bracelet back to do a watch service.

Have to totally agree with the guys Andrew. Love their passion !
Seriously, just the no charge thing is cool to tell the truth.

Thanks so much for the story, as well as post about everything.

They put a new battery in at no charge and then provided a couple of decent options. Kudos to them.

Breitling has always had excellent customer service. Circumstances are Coronavirus-related maybe?
