New Milus Archimedes

Post by AtomicTom » Mon Feb 10, 2020 12:25 pm

Not sure if you guys have checked out Milus Watch's new Archimedes.

The new watch is the modern version of the 1970s Milus Super
Compressor, and has the EPSA, or Ervin Piquerez S.A. style case.
Which was by them for brands like Blancpain, IWC, JLC, Longines,
and Milus also.

This watch has a brushed, and polished 41mm stainless steel case,
AR coated curved sapphire crystal, 300m WR, nice black, or blue dials
with SLN coated "Broad Arrow" hands, lollipop seconds, and markers.
Not to mention inner rotating bezel, dueling crowns, helium valve,
special ETA 2892 automatic movement, and textile, or leather straps.

Here is a look...

Like it Tom,
Overall pretty nice looking. Dial maybe a little crowded? I love the crowns, they have a great shape.

Love the vintage lume version.

Looks like they did a little corrosion patina on the dial too. Kudos on the effort.

I have seen this brand around lately. Is this a relaunch or did it never fully go out of business? In Miami I saw some strange milus automatic movement cufflinks with rotors...

for some reason, they made the logo bigger and the numbers bigger (although ditching the cyclops made the date seem smaller). not to mention 2 more lines of text. and the lollipops on both ends of the second hand.

i hate the "make the logo bigger" mentality.

i also miss the font that Archimedes was in on the bottom half. that funky A was nice and really added to the vintage vibe of the original.

I think it looks interesting, but $2,000? Nope...

Hey, thank YOU Jeremy, and everyone ! :salute:

The dial does look a little busy like all of you are saying. ..It seems like
the original had a similar feel, but not as much text, and there definitely
was smaller numbers, logos, and names. Guess that was one of the ways
they made it modern maybe, and helped separate itself from the original.

Honestly never knew that all of these companies had the same super
compressor case either. That was cool to find out about.

Am with you Chris, wish the price was around the price of the vintage
ones also. :) ..Oh, and Geoff, it kind of does look like it may be a
relaunch for the brand. It looks like they are celebrating their 100th
anniversary !

Thanks once again as always guys !!!

It's pretty tough beating the original isn't it Art?! Glad you enjoyed though sir.
