ScubaPro 500...

Post by JDC222 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 9:29 pm

I was happy to acquire the ScubaPro from Seth, a few weeks ago and he was great to deal with.

The natural wear on the bezel insert and case made me like the watch even more.

The crystal was original, with plenty of scratches, which didn’t necessarily detract from the appearance but...I thought I would seek out a new one.

I contacted my buddy Jason in Kentucky, as he usually surprises me with his stash of watch parts but he did not have one.

I brought the watch in to my Watchmaker - James at Otto Friedl but they did not have a matching crystal either.

James (being the clever fellow that he is) sent to crystal to a friend who is a lapidary. He had never attempted to polish a watch crystal but, considering how deep some of the scratches were, he did a great job!!

He wouldn’t take any money, as he said that he was happy to experiment! He got a case of beer for his efforts Image

So, everything is still original! Thanks again Seth!

That looks really nice Dave! The fade on the bezel insert is super cool.

Looks great on this strap. Is the crystal recessed? Strange how the inner portion of the bezel insert is more worn.

Yes, the crystal is recessed. I love the DAS Canvas too!

Really did turn out fantastic Dave, and I swear some times it looks
as if there isn't a crystal at all. :o It's that clear in the pics ! :)

You can really enjoy the set-up, and various colors that are
within the dial. ..Then that bezel adds some extra character
as well. Letting you know it was worn, and enjoyed, and is
still as cool as ever. If not more ! 8-)

Hope you keep on enjoying, and huge congratulations !!!

Nice Dave. These crystals are hard to find, so if you can save an original, all the better.

Wow - that came out great! It really highlights how nice the dial/hands are on that one, too.

Thanks again for the smooth deal

That looks great. I had a white bezel auto and it wore fantastic on the wrist.
