Fricker GmbH Closed?

Post by Ryeguy » Fri Jan 24, 2020 6:33 am

I just saw this on WUS and it looks like their website is down, so I suspect it is true.

Too bad. They were the high-water mark of micro watch manufacturer back in the day.

It's the first time hearing this Chris. Really is upsetting. Thank you though.

I hated doing business with them. They were super hard to deal with. Actually they sucked to deal with. Which is a shame because I liked their products.

I’ll try to get the scoop straight from Germany.
Apparently, they’ve gone bankrupt several times and reformed. Doesn’t look good this time.

I thought they made cases for some better known German brands. If this closure is true, I wonder how this will impact those watch brands.

That said, I’m not certain what the Made in Germany rules are, so maybe a watch with an Asian case and a Swiss movement would qualify if the parts were simply assembled in a Germany.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm pretty sure they made cases for some of the watches from Mühle Glashütte and Laco, and probably others as well.

i tried to buy all that stock. it was not an easy task. luckily it worked out in my favor since the current Kobold owners did not seem to want to buy any parts (minus a few guys here). i believe in the long run I dodged a bullet

It turns out that Walter Fricker simply decided to retire and close up shop.

I’m sure we would have heard something by now.
