New Longines 1938 Military

Post by Cabaiguan » Sat Dec 07, 2019 9:46 am

I couldn’t resist this one when it was announced. Contacted Topper and arrived today.

What a great watch! My first modern Longines and its fabulous. The Unitas pocketwatch movement is much smoother than I thought it would be. Fits great on my wrist even at 43mm. It has a nicely domed sapphire that you can make out in one of the pics. Really well executed by Longines. Very happy.

Slapping a NATO on it soon. I think this one will be a strap monster.

Looks great.

These style watches work well on Nato. I wear my Dornbluth 99.1 on one exclusively.

I think Longines is nailing it with their vintage line. Looks great on you.

On gray NATO. Time keeping seems to be a bit fast but I’ll let it settle in for a while.

How do you feel about the size? When I read about it (43mm IIRC) I thought that it would wear very large given that it's all dial. But looking at it, the lugs seem nice and short, so that should offset how it wears.

Looks decent on the wrist :)

My wrist is about 6.5” but flat. This one wears similar to my Zenith CP-2 which is also 43mm. The lugs curve down which really helps...the lugs don’t just hang out there like some other large watches.

Are the lugs roomy enough for custom straps?

That looks great.

As to the speed, I always prefer a bit fast over a bit slow. I hate being late for stuff.

Have fun strap shopping!

Yes. Plenty of space for leather strap.

Wow, just wow !! :excited: Can see why you are so happy Raf. ..The watch has it
all really, and does everything in such a classic way. I mean check out the
fantastic timeless set-up of the dial. It's perfect ! :o Even the case is gorgeous,
and can only imagine how nice the movement is working. A huge congrats
to you here !!!

P.S. Looks amazing on both straps by the way. Each one of them seems to
pull different colors, and details from both the dial, and case. Enjoy !
