all black everything
all black everything
As I gird my loins for another holiday season, I'm kinda feeling like I need something to match my mood. All black everything.
Almost recently grabbed a Blancpain Bathy Ceramic, but ultimately went with something else that I'd be more comfortable smacking around. Still want a ceramic / PVD / DLC case to scratch that itch though, maybe in the 2 - 3k range. Pretty much any Breitling 'blacksteel' is an easy pick, but wondering what else is out there.

Re: all black everything
Pick up a two-liner and have it DLC’d within budget?
Re: all black everything
Man, I have always wanted to do this with my two-liner. Just don't have the balls atm...
+1 to the Breitling – I've heard their DLC is supposed to be leagues above what most brands are doing. Have definitely always liked the Avengers though, especially the new ones.

Too tacticool for me, but this one might fit the bill:
Re: all black everything
Been watching Season 3 of Grand Tour right now, and Clarkson is giving a Top Gun a lot of airtime. This was one of my favorite watches of SIHH this year too:
Re: all black everything
This.
They can be had relatively inexpensive when they come up on the market used.
There's a lot in this budget. The current IWC top gun sans the airplane hand is a gem in person and would be my choice but it's ceramic and $$$$... Good in that the black won't show any marks but you know the rest with ceramic.
Could buy a SRPB55 Samurai and find another bezel insert if the OEM doesn't tickle your fancy, or swap with an entire second watch) like I did, then flip the spoils in a separate watch for cheap, at least until this dark mood passes.

Re: all black everything
My favorite Blacksteel watch is the Colt Chronograph Blacksteel:
The Navitimer Blacksteel is pretty cool as well, if you can look past the date font:
A friend of mine recently picked up the Tag Heuer Monza reissue and I've been pretty impressed with it:
There's always the DSOTM:

Wish I knew the lug to lug on that MG. I would probably jump on it if it was reasonable. Agreed about the bottom text, however.

Re: all black everything
The reissue echoes the design of the original. In fact I think it's one of the only vintage reissues I've seen that actually looks better than the original.mattcantwin wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 12:07 pmBlack pushers, crown and date wheel would make it just about perfect.
