Your Worst Sales Decision
Re: Your Worst Sales Decision
I have never sold a single watch at what I would consider a “loss”, including the dozen or so PAM’s I have owned. I try to buy well and sell just under where the market is, and have almost always been happy with the end result. The way I see it, if you break even or even a couple of hundred under what you originally paid, you basically rented a great timepiece for however long you had it.
Re: Your Worst Sales Decision
You also sold a Steve McQueen Rolex those have really shot up in price lately I really liked that one was great to see that one in person.

I’ve been lucky in not having lost a ton in flipping, but then again I don’t play at the level of some of you and certainly don’t flip as often as some.
I’ve been more stung worst by buying decisions, such as when I purchase impulsively and now have a watch I don’t wear sitting in my sock drawer. I probably have 5 or 6 from over the years collecting dust. Just a waste of money that could’ve been used to buy something with more substance.

Financially it was no great loss, but the happiest I’ve ever been (watch related) was when I had my Panerai 000 and Sinn U1000S. For some reason I sold or traded both around the same time.

Yes sir, you heard right. ..Still have all of my watches. Although
many of the quartz models need new batteries.

Nothing that hurts too badly but I miss my 1665, blue snowflake, 62MAS, 6105-8009, JLC NSA, and BPFF a bunch. Amongst others.

If I could get an SD43 without a cyclops I'd be happy anyway I don't have 14 grand just sitting around either. I guess I'm just a Tudor/Omega/Sinn guy.

Yeah, the only one I want to/will get back is the 2254.50, the rest are history...petethegreek wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 6:55 pmYea, I have regrets...
Generally, I don’t suffer from buyer’s remorse - just seller’s remorse.
I regret selling good pieces at large losses and then buying them back again.
I do regret selling my Omega 2254.50 the most.

Good thing that's totally doable still $$$$-wise compared to the 100 cry-in-our-beers Rolex stories on this forum. Love the 2254.50 and it's cousins. Do it! Do it now! Another one I'll add was the SBDX012. I had a few 001s over the years but man that one was special and perfect.
Re: Your Worst Sales Decision
Yeah sold a few Rolex's and a Tudor, still no ragrets as I wasn't wearing these watches and @ 40mm were a little small for me. Happy with the current collection. Only watch I'd like to add is a deep blue, moving into baller stakes would be a PP, Journe or uber baller a RM. All in good time...sierra11b wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2019 5:14 pmGood thing that's totally doable still $$$$-wise compared to the 100 cry-in-our-beers Rolex stories on this forum. Re: Your Worst Sales Decision
None really. I have a couple I would have made more money on if I waited but would have sold regardless. Tastes have shifted once again. I’ve been getting bored quicker with each phase and then change again.

I don't sell as many as I should, so I don't have any tales of great woe. My biggest regret so far is trading away a Sharkhunter 1200.

Thanks, between my home renovations (dropping $50K on steel this week) and the Aus $ tanking. It'll be a little while before I can grab one of these, but it's still in my sights. J

Re: Your Worst Sales Decision
When I first started down the rabbit hole of this wonderful hobby, I have bought and sold everything from Anonimo to Zinex/Zixen. It's a good thing I don't have the pics of the ones I had because every time I view the pics, it would be too brutal.
