What's the deal with Reddit?

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but when trolling on WatchRecon I often see watches up for sale on reddit. I'm not familiar with reddit so when I see something pop up there I just move on not being familiar with the site or how to navigate to avoid scams. Any feedback on the site would be appreciated. I've finally saw something interesting that it might be worthwhile to look into. Thanks!

I remember Terry posting about the Reddit watch forum a few times in the past and while I was reluctant to check it out initially, I’ve become more active there recently and have actually bought and sold my last few pieces there

The watch community there is expanding and the sales forum is actually more heavily regulated than your standard sales forum

There is a feedback section as well as one would expect

As with anything, buy the seller still applies

I’ve come to trust the Reddit sales forum the same as any other watch forum

I find the prices to be higher there, almost as though the masses won’t know that a $4k Breitling is only worth $2k.

I bought a Seaforth from Canada on Reddit. It felt normal as a buyer. That general rule of buying the seller is true no matter the site. Most users selling there probably have established feedback on other forums, also, which is reassuring.

Depending on the forum, or sub reddit, they have a lot of rules. People always call others out if broken...
I’ve sold a few Seiko on there and they went really fast. They kept saying that they are priced well... so yeah I think used prices are a bit higher there.
Looking at knives, knifeexchange is really cool and has more listings per day than USN or BF.

Sometimes it is the wild west there. People will shit on a sales post just to do it. But the majority of the time it is really good.

Thanks my friend! I'm making some initial contact but with my "Spidy" senses tingling, they won't let me go forward. He has no sales history anywhere. If F to F I might consider kicking the tires a bit more.

It's so confusing! I think I was supposed to lay low for 30 days, but it said you need to comment before you engage a seller! I've started the process in making a purchase, now I need to move a few to see if we can hammer some things out.

I don't think I'm there yet is trying to sell there. I've got to be a fly on the wall and feel things out. The format is indeed weird. The whole Reddit site I find bizarre! I don't get it yet, but I guess I'm just slow!
