Orient Star Power Reserve 200M Diver

Post by gonzomantis » Fri Sep 06, 2019 3:42 pm

I just got an email from gnomon about this watch. Looks tempting, but a little large for my wrist. Seems nice for $640.

Dimensions: 43.6mm in diameter, 51.1mm lug to lug, 14mm thick.

I usually hate power reserve complications to the point of completely ruling out the watch, but I think i like everything else about this watch more than enough that i can overlook it. I hope the level of finishing is OS level, because the pics (at least on my phone) it doesn't appear that way. I have also been drinking Old Ezra 7yr, so don't hold me to any of that

Looks good, but I agree with the wearing large concern.

I’ll still wear my 44mm watches, but I’m not certain I want to add any more to the collection. My comfort zone seems to be trending more to the 40-42mm area.

It's too big for my wrist, but that is darn good looking watch.

Orient keeps putting large divers. I wish they were a little smaller so my wimp ass can wear one.

43mm is the sweet spot for a diver IMO. That is the same as the Bluering...which was the perfect size.

I own an Orient Triton, which is similar to this Orient Star in many ways. It's only slightly smaller, with a 43.4 mm width, 13.6 mm height, 22mm lugs, and 51mm L2L. If has the same movement as the Saturation Diver, but a much more manageable size and a lot less expensive ($400 from Long Island Watch). Unfortunately, the crown broke off from the stem and I had it up for sale, but had to withdraw it. It's been sent to Orient USA for repair and I'll probably keep it when I get it back. It is an awful lot of watch for the money.

No, it's not Tourettes.

It is nice that they put out a new Orient Star model and that one looks good overall, minus the hands... not of my liking.

But yes, they also have a new Mako that is some 43-44mm wide... that one looks pretty good too.

Really liking this one Mike, and it's the first time getting the chance to
see one, so thanks a ton ! :salute:

Seriously, like just the neat shape of many of the markers, and hands
here. It's not something we see every day, and is just refreshing to
tell the truth. Thanks again for the news, along with look !

I like it!

Fully brushed case and bezel, sapphire, movement seems to be Orient’s version of Seiko’s 6R15 with a PR. The capsule shaped hour markers are a nice change too. Very reminiscent of Sinn’s T1/T2 dial. It’s nice to see the H/M hands and 5 minute markers on the bezel cary the same theme as well.

The size is large, but not Sat diver huge at 43.6mm x 51.1mm x 14mm with 22mm lug width. The lugs look like they have a good curve to them, so it should wear very well on the wrist.

I definitely see some Seiko DNA in the bezel font and the lume pip is very 300m Tuna-ish.

Of course being in the Seiko family, the lume looks killer Image
