I wonder how they are getting away with the statement "Made in America" with the Swiss movement? They must have found a loop hole somewhere. I like the watch also.

Probably because they put “Swiss movement” right on the dial. Like clothing labeled “made in the USA with imported fabric.”

If I liked that style of watch, I would try one out. Unfortunately that’s not a watch that would get any real wrist time with me.

I really don’t see why anyone would be so upset about this. It says Swiss movement right on the dial. Timex isn’t hiding anything. If that makes you not want to buy the watch, that’s fine, but Timex isn’t making an untrue representation.

Isn’t it a percentage just like “Swiss made”? You only have to get 60% to claim Swiss made. Same thing here I figure.

No but based on made in America standards it’s not made in America. It might be assembled here but for whatever reason that’s not allowed to count.

Timex is not even owned by America or Americans.

"Timex Group B.V., or Timex Group, is a Dutch holding company headquartered in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. It is the corporate parent of several global watchmaking companies including Timex Group USA, Inc., TMX Philippines, Inc., and Timex Group India Ltd."

I hope you guys do realize that "Made in America", especially when touted by niche product makers, is nothing more than marketing.

Overall like these, or at least the idea behind them too Art. Although like
you said, the quartz, especially for that price, brings the excitement down a
notch. But who knows what they might add to the collection next. Could maybe
be new versions of these, or something even sportier with an automatic next
time sir !

Yes. I believe the protected text is “Made in the USA”. “America” is a broader term and not necessarily a country. Maybe their loophole?

I don’t necessarily just mean that, as I believe FTC probably regulates all implication of US made (rather than just enforcing terms).

I’m referring more to the fact that most folks (not just here, but in the country more broadly) support US made because of what they believe it means for our economy, etc... and companies are taking advantage of that warm and fuzzy feeling without much of the economic (or other domestic) benefit resulting.

The FTC would probably say it must be something like this, Made in America with imported goods. Or something like that. This is what else they say "Marketers and manufacturers that promote their products as Made in USA must meet the “all or virtually all” standard"

I’m okay with it.

Seems they’re putting it right out there for all to see at 1/4 of Shitola.

Wish they made this one in 'murica! Of course I probably would've had to pay 4x more.
