At last.........incoming....The reveal

Post by snootydog » Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:26 am

It's been two years since I've been able to write INCOMING again. My watch fund has been having chunks taken out of it with one thing and another but finally had enough to bid on eBay for the watch I've wanted for quite a while now.
I'm not home until Friday to see it so I'll keep you guessing until then, although some of you will have a good idea as to what it may be  I've been offered this watch by a couple of guys on here but adding shipping costs from the USA plus customs ,who always nab my incoming watches from there, didn't make it a feasible buy, but thanks for the offers guys.
So make your guesses

Tried to cheat by looking through your posts.

I didn't find the watch, but I found some impressive birthday greetings.

After two years, you have an incoming watch. That is super exciting. We will be waiting.

only thing i can think of that would not be available outside the US, AND that multiple DWCers would have to offer...

It's available anywhere and I would have loved to have bought it from the guys here on DWC, but with shipping and the inevitable customs duty it made more sense to find one this side of the pond. It's specifically the older model I was after as I'm not keen on the new colour of lume indices they changed too.....that's a clue

Here it is, Steinhart Ocean vintage GMT with ETA 2824-2.
First time I've seen one for real and so far it seems everything I thought it would be. Nice simple and easy to read dial which is something I choose all my watches by.
I've always heard good reviews from you guys who own one so like most of my watches this will be a keeper.

Nice. As long as the gmt hand is aligned those are a solid value.

I remember that watch!

Great GMT! ETA 2893-2 movement in that one. Nice that it is 300 meter rated.

I saw a note a while back where some pressure tested one to 800 meters.

I had one, it’s a great watch. I only sold it because, well, I’m stupid.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

In my excitement I completely forgot to ask the seller if the hands lined up but luckily they do
