FYI - for no-date fans....Monta!

Post by hoppyjr » Mon Aug 05, 2019 10:15 am

Having owned both generations of the Monta Oceanking, I found the watch to be of great quality and very wearable. I wished for a no-date version and emailed them with that request long ago.

It appears others made a similar request, because when I emailed Monta today to check on it, they sent me the below photo. Preorder is open with Aug-Sept delivery.

This makes the Monta even better.

$1755 on bracelet (with Glidelock like clasp) and a bit less on fitted rubber.

Agreed.

They really do have a quality feel. The bezel is fantastic and with a Glidelock style clasp they become a solid choice.

I won’t be silly and compare it to a Rolex, but the Monta is less that 20% of what a 114060 is selling for these days.

Yep, once they realized their initial pricing structure was WAY out of line and reigned it in, the value proposition is there.

That’s awesome. Who wouldd want an expensive homage when this is available? I feel bad now not paying any attention to Monta.

I wish they had used the red seconds hand on the gilt version.

thx for posting this ed
I previously posted my opinion that the gen II with date at 6 almost passes for a no date watch since the date window at 6 is so similar to the 12 marker at first glance.
(that said, I will likely move my gen II (hoppy worn) for a no date version on rubber once they're out.)

Good plan. I agree, the date window is well executed, but I do prefer the clean no-date version.

Thank you. Been echoing the same for a while. Date at 6, perfect. 3,acceptable. 4/4:30, I will never understand.

I’ve been eyeballing a Monta addition for a while now.

That is super looking watch and I dig it on the rubber strap!
I enjoy looking at the pictures, but I'm broke and broken...

Will be an excellently made watch. I never warmed up to mine from the moment I unboxed it, but it was undoubtedly well executed.
