So is this watch a mashup of parts then ? Are you sure it is real ? Opened it up and show us?Civic4982 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 12:52 pmYes,JBZ wrote:Welcome. Cool watches but, as was pointed out on the other thread, the dial on the PloProf is upside down. Or the case is upside down. Or, well, you get the point.
It was purchase by me this way and I’m in search of a correct date wheel to flip it back the “correct” lefty direction.

Re: Long time lurker
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
As for this Ploprof,
I do not believe it is a mashup of parts.
Once I have a serial number I will order an extraction and find out more.
It looks like all very period correct parts and appears to be quite honest so far.

On the Omega it mite be a simple fix like flipping the dial around the dial feet just mite fit. The date wheel goes around on the movement and would be in the right position I think. Have a watch maker take a look at it. Maybe a righty did not like the lefty and just flipped the dial around.

Mike obviously likes you, he used punctuation.
Re: Long time lurker
I bet you can just re-install the dial right side up, some movements/dials have the screws/pins in positions that are workable for either right or left crowns. The date Wheel would also be right because on the opposite side (180 degrees) it will be upside down in comparison, which makes it right if the whole watch/movement is also turned upside/down. The only caution would be if the date number is in the same location as the window...
Don't know much about those vintage watches/movements to be able to tell for sure. But if you are handy with watchmaker tools it should be a piece of cake to check it out.

I think if this was all it would take he would have done it already. Looks like he has been modding watches for a long time. https://www.google.com/search?q=Civic49 ... e&ie=UTF-8CarloDWC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 7:44 pmI bet you can just re-install the dial right side up, some movements/dials have the screws/pins in positions that are workable for either right or left crowns. Didn't you say you modded watches at one time? Then why would you order and extraction instead of opening it up yourself?

Long time lurker
An extraction of archives would let me know what the original serial number of the movement was sold as. In this case whether or not it’s a plorpof oriignally. Many of these movements were swapped over the decades as I’ve read on a few expert sites.
That’s what “extraction” means.
As for removing the movement from this case, I’m a bit weary. I break stuff often and that bezel insert sure is nice. May go to my watchmakers over the next few weeks to have him help me.
And no, I’m not Perezcope. Not sure how that question even arose.

By other watch forums do you mean the rep forums you're quite active on? And by vintage builds do you mean the fakes you posted about on those same forums?Civic4982 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 12:30 pmI’ve been lurking around here for years reading and learning. Gradually the vintage builds became vintage watch purchases and so forth.
I like to tinker quite a bit and over the past years my collection has really begun to take shape with a variety of military and dive watches.
From you post back in 2013 on your "V2" rep Ploprof it seems you know something about Ploprofs, well at least which way the dial should be.
Oh and is this SD the one you had so much trouble fitting the caseback and date wheel?
Re: Long time lurker
Wait, if I read that correctly, the OP is cited together with counterfeiters who join forums and ask for advice about fitting the watch parts together correctly?toxicavenger wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 9:43 pmAre you Perezcope? https://steemit.com/life/@perezcopehunt ... aga-part-1

Looks like Civic (a fake builder) and Perezcope (a fake builder) had a fight where each accused the other of being the worst faker ever. How does one faker get offended by another faker faking a part (I really don't have the energy to read the article)? Is there some kind of code in the faker world?toxicavenger wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 9:43 pmAre you Perezcope? https://steemit.com/life/@perezcopehunt ... aga-part-1

No, that plorpof was a modern 1200m v2 replica. This one is one I picked up on eBay and is, to my knowledge, appearing to be genuine.
As for the 1665, also no. Great you’ve found my prior Comex 1665 build. That one was based on a Thai case called MBW. I sold it a bit back to another hobbyist. This one l, again as far as I know, appears to be genuine.
I sense some hostility with my other watches on here. I don’t change my username since I’m pretty straight forward about what’s real and what’s not.
If my others watches and history of building my own replicas are issue on this forum, I’ll show myself out.

In this case, I'm on Jacob's side. The guy builds fake Omegas, Rolexes, and maybe other brands.

Welcome Civic!
As a forum, we do have an issue with fakes and the people who buy/own them, they're illegal, nothing more to say here.
Yes, we have been very hard on some newcomers lately (that probably didn't deserve it), but in this case, fakes are fakes.

I appreciate your honesty about this. Most guys don’t own up to being involved with fakes.
That said, we have very few rules here at DWC, but being involved with fakes is something we don’t tolerate. I’m sure some other forums might be more welcoming.
