@logan2z

Well not so much a buck more like $14,875 to be precise, someone tried to tell me Hodinkee are all about the "The Collector" whilst I really think they are about the $$$$$'s and the cool hip look at me I'm rich and better then you crowd IMHO. It sure is nothing like it was when it was actually an informative and good read but that was so long ago now its sad.

I know advertising is a must for good business, but the history of watch photography? Never heard of it.

You didn't know that "techniques for photographing watches have evolved over the last few decades?" Where've you been?

I can't take a wrist picture that doesn't make my watch look 150mm in diameter while simultaneously making my wrist look 2 inches in circumferences. I'm not sure I want to pay Ben Clymer to show me how to solve that problem though.

If you've ever wondered how HODINKEE creates the thousands of photographs they share each year and how you can get similar results out of your watch collection, this is a rare opportunity to learn for yourself.
You better watch out. You're into photography AND local. Your wife might get it for you as a surprise.

I’ll save you $600,it’s all about field of view, sensor size and the lens.
Obviously smartphone cameras have small lenses and smaller sensors and most are wide angle compared to what you have with a traditional DSLR or mirrorless camera. Add to the fact that you can only raise the phone so far above you when taking the pic, so it makes the watch seem bigger on your wrist in pics.
Here’s a pic taken on my iPhone and two taken with my DSLR on a tripod.

Shit, that's a big different. I'm still using some crappy old iPhone 6 or something like that.

Does it make penis pics look bigger or smaller? If the latter, I'm not a buyer.

Let's hope it comes with a built-in gouge removal filter that you can use when taking pictures of your brand new Hodinkee LE ;)

That's really going to impact his ability to sell the watch for $2,000 over MSRP.

surely hoodwinkee can spare a few employees from their marketing army (or from the 24x7 shift of bank deposit runners) to qc these LEs before shipping out
(unless of course these do indeed drop ship straight from mfg)

That is the reason I gave up on wrist shots, and just take pictures of the watch. No one wants to see my skinny ass wrists anyways.

if you use the reflection in the mirror it will make the watch look more correct to how it is in real life
