Not good at all.
At least he got a full refund, which is the best outcome when trying to get out of a shit sandwich.

Quick rundown?
Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
Sounds like he bought the watch and noticed it was scratched when he received it. Took two months to get a refund.CesarG wrote:Quick rundown?

Bought new watch. Found light scratches.
AD (said they) sent to Tudor. Came back with more scratches.
Buyer discussed return for refund. AD got weaselly about the return.
Buyer returned for refund.

Sucks, especially since he waited months to even receive the watch. Plus, it was his first (relatively) big dollar watch purchase. Buying sight unseen is a risk. Ay least the AD was local to him and familiar with him and sounds like they worked with him to get it resolved.
I wonder if the story might’ve been different if he bought through a random internet AD he had no relationship with.

Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
Saw this yesterday. In hindsight, he probably should have just left it alone when he noticed the comparatively minor scratches when he first received the watch, but I certainly understand his desire to have a pristine watch out of the box. What came back from Tudor was totally unacceptable.
Glad he got the refund.

Welcome to the world of overpriced watches. The worst thing about Rolex cutting indy watchmakers is the thought of some low skill rsc worker half assing my watch and screwing it up.

Dude should have just hit those fine scratches with a cape cod cloth and moved on.

Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
Guess it boils down to how badly he wanted the watch. While I expect to get something new in box, when it’s.....new in box... those scratches would happen in the first 30 days of normal wear. At least for me.

I’d be more concerned with how it was running.
Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
Pretty lame service from the AD. The AD should have inspected that watch and called the customer to break the bad news.

I disagree. He bought it new, it was a big purchase for him as well.
Preowned is one thing, New is another. Tell me you go on the lot to buy a new car and there are scratches on the hood that you don’t ask for a discount or something or one without scratches.
Sure, you’ll scratch it up soon, but when paying for a brand new product, it should be in new condition.

Not saying that he shouldn't have been upset that the watch arrived with some minor scratches on the case. If he wasn't willing to buff them out himself, then I think he was justified in taking it up with the AD. What I am saying is that I wouldn't consider it a 'disaster' (he also used the word 'torturous' in the video) and I certainly wouldn't have taken the trouble to shoot and narrate a 10 minute video about it and post it on the internet.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 8:17 amI disagree. Yeah, can imagine how annoying this must have been for him, and how stressful
the whole thing was Don. He probably thought everything would work out fine,
and never dreamed he'd have any problems. But once things went wrong, they
just seemed to get stranger, and stranger, and things never got back on track.
Really was surprising.
P.S. Was wondering how those scratches got on the watch. It almost looks
like the Styrofoam was maybe rubbing on the polished sections during
shipment, or something. Crazy stuff in any case. Thanks very much for
the post !

This. Plus, if I had scratches on a new car, I’d ask for a discount and let the dealer buff them out rather than ship the car back to the manufacturer. Same here with the watch. Polishing light scratches doesn’t require a certified watchmaker.logan2z wrote:Not saying that he shouldn't have been upset that the watch arrived with some minor scratches on the case. On the other hand, an rsc has ruined case’s doing just that.BacoNoir wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 10:47 amThis. Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
You can't teach people how to give a shit and how to focus on the damn details.. The AD failed miserably at the pre-deliver inspection. They also failed to perform an impeccable inspection to verify that the customer's concerns were rectified...
Bunch of fuck-ups...

Re: Tudor BB58 Disaster
New information...,, they guy at the AD wasn’t honest and the watch was never sent off to Tudor/RSC to begin with.

Now ^^that^^ would piss me off. Out right lying is unacceptable. I hope Tudor makes the AD rectify it.dnslater wrote:New information...,, they guy at the AD wasn’t honest and the watch was never sent off to Tudor/RSC to begin with.

That AD will probably lose their Tudor and, if they have one, Rolex account. Bad idea to piss off the 800 lb gorilla with social media being what it is these days.
