An AP 15400 from a grey dealer for almost $24K? Crazy.

Yeah, this watch frenzy is getting out of hand. I need to find a cheaper hobby :banghead:

APROs have increased right along with Rolex SS Sports and PP Nautilus references. The Jumbo is basically impossible to get.

I know. If they go much higher, I Amy have to send mine in for service and sell it. I’d love to get a Smurf or RG YM but I just don’t have that kind of coin, but flipping the APRO and another piece could get me there.

Restricted availability has certainly pumped pricing - Where does it stop though?

Luxury brands never ever want to drop their price points, I just wonder if they are setting themselves up for a big crash in a few years time as revenue slides the wrong way entirely.

I remember thinking about consolidating most of my collection and going for a 15400 when they were easy to get and 12-14k. Combined with the current exchange rate for my Aussie dollars, these are now crazy expensive. I would rather buy a new car.

I get that they may be masterpieces in terms of construction or finish, but I have yet to be drawn to the look.

On luxury watches, pre-owned Omega might be the best bargain out right now there given their movement technology. I just wish their newer co-axial stuff wasn’t so thick.

^^that^^

Vintage ...good vintage...has become unreachable for many now as well. I guess it’s a sign on a stronger economy. I’m definitely not spending like I used too on the hobby.

You're absolutely right Mike - good vintage prices are at a level that I wouldn't have thought possible a few years ago. I'm not spending like I used to either.

holy nuts. I need to make more money.
Not necessarily to keep at this crazy hobby, but damn, that just makes me think I need to hustle more in general.

All watches have increased. Sinn used to be a value brand - like when you buy it new and get it you’re like “damn look what I got for my money!”. Now it’s like; “damn, THIS is what I got for $4,000!?”

My vintage Tudor days were so much fun. Even better when I took my Tudor Sub into a Rolex AD and they accused it of being fake because it said “submariner” on the dial. Now they are one of the only Tudor ADs in the area. Long gone now. And this is exactly why I’m not buying watches anymore, well maybe some Seiko. And this is also why I found another hobby instead of watches. Slip joint knives.
