Ouch!! Watches and metal door frames
So this just happened
Smacked the watch on a door frame and the insert popped out. How are these usually held in place? Am I missing a piece? If I put it back on the bezel it doesn’t snap in or anything? Do they use some kind of adhesive?

Re: Ouch!! Watches and metal door frames
I’m sure it’s just some bezel insert adhesive. I keep a tube in my watch tool box just Incase.

I thought this was going to be way worse from the title. If it is just some adhesive you came away from the whole thing pretty well. Just curious nellipj what type of insert adhesive do you use?

Re: Ouch!! Watches and metal door frames
I don’t think you are missing anything. Some bezel inserts are friction fit while others use an adhesive. I’ve seen what looks like double sided tape used.
Feel the back of the inset. Do you feel any adhesive residue? I don’t see any on the bezel surface itself, but maybe worth inspecting that as well.
If both surfaces feel smooth and clean, my guess is this was originally friction fit by Sinn. It appears here is a ledge or something machined into the bezel surface where the insert sits. I’m wondering if that is part of the friction fit design?
If it no longer press fits in and stays, I might try a small amount of rubber cement (not super glue). You’ll want something that is water resistant, yet still allows you to remove the insert again in the future if you need to. I’d keep the glue towards the outer edge of the bezel insert.

So there definitely a bit of a ridge. The back feels very smooth. If it’s as easy as just applying some tape that’s awesome. My heart stopped for a second when I heard and felt it smack. Here’s some more pics. I think maybe it was friction fit.

Hope you can work it out on your own.
Re: Ouch!! Watches and metal door frames
I’m guessing that second ring is the piece that provides the friction fit.

I do believe so. Now I just have to get it pressed in evenly.Ryeguy wrote:I’m guessing that second ring is the piece that provides the friction fit.

That's not a great way to start the day. Hope you can get it sorted.

Glad you fixed it. I’d watch it for a couple of days to make sure the fit is good and it doesn’t just pop out again.

Carefully pushed it in and pushed down the gasket as the insert seated.Seppia wrote:How did you fix it?
