JRE. That’s it for me.

If you had to pick one or two which ones would you start with? Not a huge podcast guy but willing to give it a go.amckiwi wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 12:16 amAm up to date on the following

Two Broke Watch Snobs
40&20
The Grey Nato
Love N' Watches
Bellingham Podcast
NO BS Watch-maker
I tried Watch and Listen. I get tired of the promotional content. Not to mention Matt Farrer is full of himself.
JRE is one of my favorite. It is well rounded. I do not listen to many podcast right now though.

Most of the watch podcasts are unlistenable.

I listen to a few political podcasts. Additionally, I really like Serial, but there are only 3 seasons. Marc Maron's WTF can be good, but I've found him hit or miss. Same with Bill Simmons' BS report.
As for watch podcasts, I agree - most just lose me. It's a pretty esoteric topic - there's really only so much that can be said without revisiting the same topics. Of those that I've listened to, I like The Grey Nato - they talk about stuff other than watches. Got a couple of good documentary recommendations from one of their shows.

Grey Nato is still a decent listen, the two broke occasionally but it gets a bit rough sometimes. JRE, hardcore history and bbc science, the dropout about Elizabeth Holmes was good too.

Meateater is a good podcast if you hunt. Nothing to do with watches

I don't listen to watch podcasts.
I do listen to Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis. I used to find Phil Hendrie funny, but he's obsessed with politics of late.

"On time" was fantastic, but they haven't put out new episodes in a long time. Still a decent backlog and they've got very high production value.
"Unwound" is also pretty good. But Grey Nato is my overall fave.

Re: Watch Podcasts What ya listening to?
As has been said before, watch podcasts are great for the first few weeks. Then you realize that at a certain point, all the podcasters are covering the same thing and the same topics. I really don't need a half dozen podcasters telling me how bad Basel sucked this year.
The 2 Broke Watch Snobs are OK, but its really a couple of drunk millennials talking about movies, beer, sex and - if you hang around past the first half hour - watches. Lotta F bombs. They get tiresome.
The Worn and Wound podcast is about what you'd expect.
I've recently discovered Love N Watches. A husband and wife team talking watches. It's aimed at newbies and casual watch hobbyists, but it is kinda soothing to listen to a womens take on the genre. They had Terry on in January and it was quite fun.
Non watch podcasts? I recommend "Hardcore History" by Dan Carlin. Absolutely riveting.

Re: Watch Podcasts What ya listening to?
Agree with the sentiment that most of them are very derivative, however I drive A LOT so I listen to most of them. The best are when there are interesting guests on, particularly watch makers and watch industry personnel. Keeping Time with Oster Watches has had some good guests. Scottish Watches started up this year and has been fairly entertaining - or maybe I just enjoy the accents . TGN turned me on to the Brady Heywood podcast - he’s a forensic engineer that examines some of the largest engineering disasters and failures of all time. He did a series at the end of 2018 that did a deep dive into Apollo 13. It was a fascinating listen. I was sorry to finish it.
