SuperLuminova Dinner Plate aka Hamilton 50mm

Post by stonehead887 » Fri Mar 22, 2019 7:09 am

Just saw this at local AD, it has intrigued me since its launch. Its huge, it's cool.... its wearable!
Some quick pics on my 6.5 inch wrist.
Dial is pure KhakiField with massive 1mm solid superluminova numerals. Case is 50mm, lugs 24mm and not too thick. It has a decent weight to it and comes with a weird sort of nato that can be worn 2 ways, one if which brings case much closer to wrist.
Case looks like it is bead blasted finish. I was hoping it was going to ridiculous, but it's not.
This may be a case of cool over comfort...ImageImageImage

Nice. I really like this one.

And a comparison to the 38mm...

Really is neat guys !! :salute: Guess because of the large dial, and no bezel,
it feels, or looks like that. ..Kind of has an almost pilot's watch way about it !

Thanks a ton for the look at it, or them !!!

This thing is the size of a desk clock. It actually wears very comfortable.

If you have worn an IWC big pilot, this has the same feel.

It does wear very comfortable, and takes all your panerai 24mm straps.

Not as bad as flava flav wearing a clock around his neck....

Put that dinner plate on a standing desk with a really thick NATO.

Erik, you are actually one of the few guys I know with the wrists to actually wear this thing! I don't think you can even get my watches on bracelets over your mitts ("hands" doesn't quite seem like the correct word!)

BTW - we need to catch up over a beer one of these days. The decks will be open soon!

True, unless there's a decent wetsuit extension lol. Tuna is about as big as I'll go any more, tho. Normal length lugs on a wrist clock like that just looks clownish to me. Hell, one of my favorites these days is a 40mm Khaki quartz

I just hit 6 months without alcohol. A good local beer might floor me these days :shifty: (but my divorce will be final on 4/4, so I may need to celebrate!)

6 months, no booze? Nobody likes a quitter, Erik :gayumbrella:

If one beer would floor you, you have become what Terry would call a "cheap date".

I'm with you on the size thing though. I still enjoy my MM300 and Shogun, but those are kind of "sneaky big" in my book. They hide their size well. 40-42 is more my sweet spot.
