ZODIAC Limited Edition Aerospace GMT

Post by toxicavenger » Wed Mar 20, 2019 9:43 am

With a Swiss-made ETA2893-2 automatic movement, this reimagined, limited edition style is the pinnacle of expert timekeeping with a universal Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) tracker that allows you to tell time in two places simultaneously. Extremely precise, this high-functioning watch's accuracy is only matched by the classic simplicity of its stainless steel design. Expected to ship by 03/28.

Case size: 40 mm x 48 mm
Case thickness: 13 mm
Lug width: 20 mm
Movement: Automatic
Origin: Swiss Made
Packaging: Zodiac Black Box

I really like a lot of the stuff Zodiac has been putting out lately, including this one. And they're doing a lot of stuff in 40mm and not too thick, which is also nice to see.

I really like the look. Why do they make everything so limited? They need to use sapphire for the bezel at that price also. 2nd hand discount would make it an attractive buy.

Ok, and I like this one. Well, not 1700 watch like, but like it.

I like these a lot and beat anything Tudor put out today

I like this GMT a lot it even if I’d prefer a different crown. But mostly i wish they had developed their own mvt with jumping hour hand like Alpina did.

Price isn’t crazy for that brand given gmt Micros like Monta and Farer go for 1500-2000$ too

Good call on the crown, that's a dress watch crown.

But not GMT, so if someone wanted GMT, it’s the only current Zodiac offering I think

I actually keep looking at this one.

It’s the damn price on it knowing how much you can get these discounted for the seawolf models.

The limited edition is pretty small though. I think 182 pieces of each version.

I don't get why they would make it such a limited edition. Is that all the ETA movements they could get? Time for an STP GMT movement.

Honestly, I am impressed with Zodiac. With such a polarizing show so far it looks like they nailed this model. Hopefully, this is a sign of the times for Zodiac and shows some of Fossil's intentions with the brand (if we the Sea Wolfeses didn't already). I'd love to see STP step up their game and create an accurate GMT movement. Can you imagine this watch, sapphire crystal, and bezel, plus a flyer's GMT at around ~$1800 MSRP? I'd be a buyer.

There’s a big gap between making nice watches with outsourced movements and making nice watches with in-house movements. If Zodiac was able to produce that, it probably be at a much inflated price point.

It’s precisely what’s so impressive about brands like Nomos. Small brands doing legitimate movement design and production at a reasonable price point. The style often is polarizing, but the value is unmatched.

Certainly, some big brands do it too (Seiko) but it’s a little less impressive.

Alpina has done this with an in house modified Sellita movement. While it certainly isn’t a true in house movement, but it bridges the the two camps by providing an additional feature (jump hour hand GMT) in a factory supported / warrantied package in a sub $2K MSRP.

I guess since Alpina is the only “affordable” brand I can think of who does this, they might be considered to be the exception that proves the rule.

The minute hand is too short. It should be lengthened so it goes halfway across the dial markers, like the SSW.
