Currently have these 4..and have thought about just 2...

but if had to go to 2, I would keep this:

and buy a Daytona or Panerai 682/3

Mainly rotate between 4 now. Couldn’t do 2.

Add in my dad’s original 7549 tuna and a few beaters that only get worn once in a blue moon.

Rolex and Seiko.

Wait! Two watches, not two brands?

That is just crazy talk.

Since the first of the year I have gone from 13 consolidated down to 4 in hand.....but really 6 overall : the vintage tudor day date is in Service and I pre-ordered the Oak & Oscar Humboldt arriving in Spring

In Hand:
1600 DJ
14060M
116710LN
Seiko 7546 Grab-n-GO

Can't get down to 2 so 3 is my best attempt

keeping:
1600 DJ
14060M
116710LN

Letting go:
Oak & Oscar Humboldt
Tudor day Date
Seiko 7546 - although this would be hard to do, it would be a lower cost of re-acquisition

Two? I'd have trouble getting down to Ten :banghead:

If I had to, the 116600 for sure, and then..... maybe the 2018 SM300, still really loving that one. But I'd still really want a Pelagos, Avenger II GMT, Deep Sea Chrono, Aerospace, etc. If I could ever get a Daytona for MSRP, *maybe* that and the 116600 would work, but I doubt it.

Great question. I have been struggling lately trying to get down to 4 - 5 core pieces. To answer you question, today I would go with a vintage steel DJ that my dad left me and probably my pepsi 16710. Tomorrow you might get a different answer, but it would be extremely hard to part with either of those.

If I really had to do this, I guess it would be Apple watch and an SKX007.

I couldn’t do two. Three at the very minimum.

If I had a gun to my head Sinn 836, T1B & EZM9

My LMLE for sure, but after that, it's a legit toss-up. Probably between the Geophysic True Seconds, PAM 655, or just my Pelagos two-liner from forever ago.

I'd probably keep my 1680 which is the watch I wear the most and probably have owned the longest (shout out to sfglenrock who sold it to me) and add a 16xxx series GMT master that I would keep WR tested that I can wear anywhere.

Lot’s of truth to this. If I’m only going to have 2 watches, I’m going for practical watches and I’d no longer consider myself a collector of “interesting” (at least to me) horological pieces.

I’d want one fairly rugged watch for wear while exercising, skiing, surfing, and all the other outdoorsy stuff I’m into, and one “business” watch that I’d wear while traveling and pretty much everything else.

I might ditch mechanical movements altogether just and do the Apple Watch and a Garmin Fenix. BORING, but practical and functional which would be the goal of a 2 watch collection.

Sub or PO with a fitness or smart watch would work. Not as boring

True, and replacing the smart watch every few years due to tech advances would still probably cost less than the maintenance costs associated with a decent mechanical.

Sub for business, Fenix for play would certainly be a solid 2 watch set-up.

I'm attempting to do this now. I have an SKX007, a Damasko DA34, and a GW-5000.

The GW-5000 has one foot out the door, the other two are staying put. The plan will be to keep these ones until I save enough for my PAM 560...we'll see how that works out.

RM 011 Titanium
16750 (or 126710 if I can go with a watch I don't currently own)

The GMT is perfect for work - enough color to be interesting, understated enough to be worn in all situations. The RM is my fun piece.

Smart watches are fine, but shouldn't count as one of the two watches kept.

I never count my G-Shock.

It would be very tough, but if forced down to only two I'd have to choose the Royal Oak and the Speedmaster.
