New Breitling Aviator 8 Curtiss Warhawk collection

Post by AtomicTom » Wed Feb 20, 2019 9:53 am

Did everyone see these new Aviator 8 watches? Or collection from Breitling?

Their new Aviator 8 Curtiss Warhawk Collection pays tribute to the Curtiss
P-40 Warhawk with three new watches. Which include the new Aviator 8 B01
Chronograph 43 Curtiss Warhawk, Aviator 8 Chronograph 43 Curtiss Warhawk
with Caliber 13, and Aviator 8 Automatic 41 Curtiss Warhawk powered by the
caliber 17 automatic guys.

With the Chronographs both having 43mm stainless steel cases, nice bezels
with red arrow at 12 o'clock, and black accents, green dials with cool sub-
dials, markings, red accents, luminous hands, and markers. Along with B01
caliber chronograph movement, or ETA 7750 based Caliber 13 automatic
chronograph, and canvas straps.

Next the three hand Aviator 8 Automatic 41 Curtiss Warhawk gives you a
41mm PVD coated stainless steel case, and bezel, and those red accents,
the green dial, luminous numbers, and hands, Caliber 17 automatic, and
green military strap too.

+1. Say what you will about Breilings of old, they were distinctive designs. These look a bit generic to me.

Yep, Chrono Avenger had its own face, I don't know what this is. Hamilton?

These do look to be separated at birth:

Personally I'd take the Hanhart.

B’ling used to have some of the nicest dials around. Now... they don’t.

I agree with the consensus. Love them or hate them, it used to be that you had to be all in on Breitling. The styling was unique and in your face. They were doing large watches long before it became trendy.

Now they just look like a lot of other brands. Maybe they'll sell more watches this way, but they're losing a lot of what made them who they were.

I think they’re more likely to go out of business. I hope Rolex secures production rights for their chronograph movement.

Man I really dig those. The new Navitimer 8's vibe with me in general.

You could be right. Might explain the radical change in their designs. Are they still producing the traditional Navitimer?

The change is due to bringing Kerns on board - the guy who shit all over IWC.

Decent enough looking watch, although I'm not a fan of most of the new Breitling designs. As stated by others, very generic. At least with the previous models you knew immediately that you were looking at a Breitling.

Cool watch, but nothing about this, or about any of the other new stuff really says 'Breitling' to me anymore. I'd almost get a Bremont over this, and support the little guys.

Guys, just on a side note. ..Not sure if you guys caught this in the article.
But evidently the Aviator 8 name is replacing the Navitimer 8 name from
now on. ..Seems like some people were confusing the Navitimer 8 with
the regular Navitimer, or Navitimers.

You know what is cool about what Breitling is doing imho guys?! Is how
they are adding new models every year, but still have the classics, or
classic lines for fans too !

The PVD looks good in a hamilton-esq kinda way. I’m a fan of the clean- dial look, so overall I like them. Not sure about the prices but I’ll bet they are up there.

The PVD model is really nice. Also like how the chrono subdials are a bit recessed.
