Still hate the logo, but the watch is quite nice looking.

His watches always look at little rough to me. This one seems less so than others.

It could be the photography, but I thought this one looked better than previous efforts too.

A healthy amount of applied lume on the numerals a la Vertex would’ve made this one a more attractive option for the price point

I actually prefer it this way, adds to the understated look of the watch. Reminds me of the Stowa Marine Original with blue dial.



I haven't seen the Vertex in person, but in photos it looks overdone to me. Almost as if it has neon-green applied numerals.

Impressive that it's actually built in the US. I'd consider one, although that field watch style is not quite my cup of tea, and it'd be too big on my wrist. I'd really like to have a US built watch though.

I've seen them machining screws and movement main plates in their shop and it is impressive what a small crew can do here in the states. The cal 1003 is very simple and not reinventing the wheel at all, but Cameron is obsessed with manufacturing this workhorse movement perfectly here in the states before taking on more complications.
His improvements over the 6497 are very welcome though, I especially like how he implements the hacking seconds feature into his cal 1003. Pull the crown and the seconds hand will continue to rotate until it reaches 12, where it stops perfectly in position, ready to sync up with your time setting.

That's a cool feature. The Panerai P.1000 movement incorporates a similar zero-reset hacking feature and so did the Stowa Airman Original (another modified 6497). Some GO movements do it and I believe some vintage Longines movements did as well. So not unique to Weiss but it's a nice touch and you don't see it often.

This looks better than his previous versions. I thought the dial on the first one I had looked super rough/unfinished. This one looks a little more refined. He is also using brushed hands on this instead of the painted versions he used before. I think the lume on the hands looks a little better than before also. I have to say at 42mm though this is a big damn watch. It wore like a 44mm for me.

I tried to listen to his podcast, because he has a ton of info. But i can only take so much of Matt. So I stopped listening.

yeah it's one of those features that is not unique but it's not common enough. I wish more watches had that feature, makes dealing with a rotation of watches a bit easier.

Exactly. I once had a Zeno with the Unitas handwind movement. I thought that since I could pull off a 42mm diver that it would be fine. Nope. 42mm that is almost all dial wears huge. I wound up giving it to my best friend.

Dude is a good guy and he's definitely doing good things here in LA. At 42mm this watch wears ginormous, sadly. I'd like to put an eyeball on his 38mm watch, though.

I got the chance to meet Cameron and handle a bunch of their watches when they did that whole roadtrip thing a couple years ago.

Everything I handled was super nice, I was tempted to pick up one of the white dial'd field watches then and there.

These new ones here look great!

I have listened to several interviews with Cameron Weiss, the dude knows his stuff, and I think his watches are really nice and clean looking, your just paying the premium for it being hand made.

So impressive Andrew, and had actually thought Weiss was already impressive before !
You find even more to like about them after reading this. It's pretty great honestly !
