New Citizen Promaster Aqualand

Post by AtomicTom » Wed Feb 13, 2019 10:17 am

Have you had time to see Citizen's latest Promaster Aqualand everyone?

Seems like the new watch will actually be seen a Baselworld this year, and
will have a 47mm stainless steel case, 200m WR, mineral crystal, helium
escape valve, and pepsi blue, and red, or all red diver's bezel. Then on top
of that, you have blue, or black dials with luminous hands, and markers,
Citizen in-house EcoDrive solar quartz caliber movement with rapid ascent
alarm, auto start dive mode, maximum depth memory, and power reserve
indicator. Then it looks like the watches will come with either a stainless steel
bracelet, or black, or blue rubber strap choice also.

Some pictures for you...

I had the old 54mm one, and it was insane. 47mm and what looks like a considerable reduction in thickness is very welcome. Would love to wear that red one.

Seiya's had this cool blue-dialed LE for awhile now...

Thanks Tom for posting but man... did Citizen screw this one up. Way too complicated to do what a watch's number one job is... show the time easily.
Bigtime NO for me. :snooty:

Zach, absolutely agreed. That was the worst debacle Citizen ever produced. No clue WTF they were thinking with that.

I don't suppose these wear smaller than the specs. I love the red bezel version.

Oh neat Zach, didn't realize they already had these out like that already ! :excited: :)
That one actually does seem a little more subtle, and simple, and the blue
touches are perfect with it. ..Think that red one would be amazing on the
wrist there. ..Thanks so much too for the pic of that beauty above !

Todd, and RR, these do have a lot going on with them ! :salute: Guess they are
a little busy with all of the hands, and the power reserve, and even the
HEV, pushers, and crown. ..Am wondering if maybe they will add in another
simpler version with less hands a ways down the road maybe.

Paul, was also thinking about the size sir. It says 47mm, but maybe that
is counting in the crown, pushers, and HEV. ..Without those, these might
actually be closer to 42, or 43mm which isn't as bad.

I’ve been watching these for a while. Just completed PADI open water and would love a watch with a analog depth gauge, before I start any more classes. Here’s a couple more color variations. ImageImage

How so? It's actually pretty trick. Time, 'charge level' for the solar movement, and two depth gauges: current depth (the colored arrow), and max depth (the pointy one). Gotta know the max so you can calculate proper decompression. Also has an alarm if your ascent / descent rate ever gets too fast. I've dove with the older monstrosity above, and despite being a pain in the ass to wear outta water, it was awfully cool to actually dive with.

Yup, they are pretty good. I had a JV Promaster and found it was the perfect backup dive timer.

Good day all.
I am not a diver. I just swim and hold my breath in the ocean. I think I go down about 30 feet or so for only 30 seconds or so. Unfortunately my last 150m "water resistant" smart watch died last week and my wife's same model died 50 days ago (Samsung Galaxy Watch). I've done some research and obviously it was too much for the watch. I'd like a new watch for snorkeling. I really like the new aqualand. I like the looks and the fact it does have a depth meter on it. However, I have heard that it takes a certain depth and time at that depth to activate the measurement. If so, anyone know if it would work for snorkeling since I only go down 20-30 feet, but max out at about 15 seconds at that depth. It would suck to purchase this $500 watch and have it not read my depth due to short time intervals. I'd like to cash in on the Black Friday sale tomorrow!!!
$390 Eco-Drive Men's Promaster Aqualand Blue Silicone Strap Watch 46mm
I've seen other watches (not dive computers), but the depth guage is too course and the intervals are in 20 meter increments and wouldn't tell me my depth because I don't go deeper than 5-10 meters tops. The 1 meter increments on the Promaster Aqualand are great.
Thank you all.

Dive watches like the citizen aren't really meant to capture the depth with the 'diving' you're doing.

Generally meant for scuba diving, not skin diving or shallow bounce dives.
