PAM Marina Militare buyer reporting for duty!

Sorry - couldn't help myself, but that kid just makes me laugh and I think these luxury watch / military collaborations are largely foolish (unless a significant portion of the revenue is being donated to a veteran's support effort).

I think it's called 'Reverse', Tom ;)

It is absolutely mind boggling how shitty this year’s Panerai releases are. Did they release anything other than Submersibles? Are they holding back the good stuff for another announcement?

New Marina Militare in two colors. This one's the more limited of the two, where a purchase literally gets you on a plane to Italy to train with an actual squad. $20k tho...
The PAM00961 that comes with the military training is $40K. $20K is for the 'cheap' one ;)
$20k to become a “real operator” seems cheap. Somebody PM Michael Kobold....

Pew, pew! I've got my PAM and I'm ready to go!
He’s there as cover for the actual soldiers.

It’s hard to surprise me, but that’s surprisingly stupid.

That’s so 1990’s Sinn.

I can’t believe that came back. Amazing .

These releases and their corresponding experiences (military training and some ice experience) is excessive marketing. The whole release kind of repulses me from the brand.

I remember when I lost a $80 g-shock on a terrible jump into Ft. Polk JRTC. I was so upset because that was a big purchase for me at the time. I actually canvassed the area with my night vision instead of hitting the rally point and got stuck in the mud chest deep as the DZ was flooded. I couldn't move and stayed helpless for hours until I was eventually killed by OPFOR (509th infantry). "Close kill!" "Fantastic, you got me! Now can you give me a hand out of this quick sand, please?"

I will say I've never disliked the "unfinished look" of the ceramic but that lume is terrible. The ceramic pattern reminds me mokume which I'm quite fond of. Of course, at $20K i'd never even consider one even if I had the means.

I almost cried when all they had was a $30 G-shock in the store at basic. I was getting paid next to nothing and 30 was a ton of cash. :crybaby: And that was just back in 2000.

I continue to find the RM business model fascinating. I guess it must be working, but I have yet to see one of their watches that I'd want to own, even if I could afford it.

I understand that Panerai will give you a $2,000 discount if you're willing to make that landing.

It's the ultimate "fuck you" watch. See, even with that Hybrid Mechanica that JLC introduced being nearly a million bucks, you at least can say you are getting something substantial for your money. That minuscule amount of "return on investment" just simply will not suffice if you are looking to maximize your face slapping of the general population.

Got to see one up close and personal with a restaurant chairman who wanted to walk with me when auditing one of his facilities. I put him on the spot and we talked watches for a bit. I sorta get it... If I had stupid money I'd certainly think about owning one of the aviation/altimeter watches or the stupid RM 25-01 as my F-you watch, even though it's ridiculous when any analog can be used as a compass.

Then I remembered I could get the Citizen Altichron or Citizen Promaster Eco-drive Altichron if I wanted to make a stupid statement. I still want an Altichron, btw.

If I were card carrying member of the Mars family I'd have both (one for the mrs). Has that candy land sort of vibe... Or is it serial killer 'Saw' motif?

I think it’s real, although they are Britts, not Frenchmen

I assume their instructors set them up. Good lesson either way
