Rolex Deepsea D-Blue

Post by goaliechris » Fri Jan 04, 2019 3:52 pm

Made a call to my local AD to check on my position on the list after 9 months and they just got one in and said it was mine if I wanted it. Wasn’t expecting that response at all! An unexpected surprise to say the least. Grail achieved.

A few initial thoughts:

- The dial is incredible in person. Changes depending on the light. Pics don’t do it justice.
- Bracelet taper is so much better than the original Deepsea. So much better.
- It’s big. My wife called it a statement. Yep.
- I probably don’t have the wrist for it. I also don’t care. Image

Love it and miss my old JC - the clasp is incredible and the extra thick crystal looks amazing

How does it feel? That what really matters. It looks enormous in pictures, but I’m sure it’s less extreme in real life.

Incredible Chris ! BIG congratulations on this !!! :headbang:

Can only imagine how this has to be in person because the pics
really are excellent, and seem to do the watch a ton of justice. :)
Really is majestic from here, and seriously look nice, and comfy.

Just can't get any cooler. Hope you really enjoy your grail Chris !

Pictures do make it look bigger than it really is on my wrist. It’s very comfortable. The Glidelock makes it easy to adjust of course so it fits as well as you’d like it to. But it also sits nicely on the wrist - high but balanced.

to echo rmm's point, the crystal is amazing in person.
to echo crhis, it is very comfortable on the wrist, and looks a lot less ridiculous in real life and wears waaay better than the specs would suggest.
it's my favorite rolex so far by a long shot, and i've spent time with many of the 5-digit and a few 4-digit sport models.
makes me smile when i look at it a lot more than any of its predecessors.
my only regret? that i waited so long to try one out.
only rolex i would sacrifice it for is the rose gold yachtmaster oysterflex :excited:

I’m starting to think that “the list“ doesn’t really exist and that the A.D. simply sells the items to the next person that happens to inquire after they get one in.

Congratulations on that one, it’s a good looking watch.

Outstanding. I should've pulled the trigger on a DSSD when I was looking for one...7 or 8 years and about $5K less ago.

Congrats!

I called my AD a few weeks ago just to see what kind of “list” situation they had- and he told me they had one of these in the case and asked if I wanted it.

I didn’t realize how big these are.

My buddy wears his every day. It’s gorgeous and makes me want one every time I see it.

Congrats! It’s a great looking watch. I had the regular DSSD for awhile, before the bracelet change. In the end it was just too thick and heavy for me, but it’s a great piece.

My wrist is just at 7” measured right after the bone. Better pic than the others to get a sense of scale on that size of wrist.

Thanks all - really enjoying it. A lot of fun to look at due to the thickness of the crystal.
