New Heuer Autavia Viceroy 1972 Re-edition
New Heuer Autavia Viceroy 1972 Re-edition
I’m not a chronograph guy but I thought the consensus was against the 30 minute counter? I seem to recall that feature being criticized on other chronographs.

Just curious, why would they reissue something like this and change the tachymeter bezel to a 12-hour?
Looks great, like all Heuer re-issues I've seen. Would love to own any of them but they're always too pricey for me to make the move.

I’d be on board if the hands had the aged lume rather than the red. Too much red IMHO.
Re: New Heuer Autavia Viceroy 1972 Re-edition
It’s gorgeous aesthetically. Another Autavia reissue I won’t be able to buy because of the size. 42mm wide and 16mm tall is a dealbreaker. Why in the world they’d put out a SECOND beautiful reissue that no vintage collector will buy is beyond me.
Truly - a ten minute focus group with vintage collectors would have cut this down to 40mm and they’d fly off shelves. I’d buy one at full MSRP if it were 40mm and slimmer. Unfortunately, another miss for me.

Surprisingly, the thread over at Chronocentric hasn't mentioned the size of the reissue. Most of the criticism centers around the fact that Tag didn't use the Tachymeter bezel that was on the original Viceroy when they obviously have those bezels available from the Hodinkee/Orange Boy re-edition.franco60 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 1:20 pmIt’s gorgeous aesthetically. This clearly wasn't meant to be an exact copy of the original Viceroy Autavia but rather a modern re-interpretation. For starters, the case shape is completely different.
Vintage Viceroys aren't hard to find and they're less expensive than this reissue. I really don't think the target market for this watch is the vintage Heuer collector.

Yeah, really does look like they thought of everything with this one guys !!
Looks amazing honestly !!! Really appreciate the look at it ! THX !
Re: New Heuer Autavia Viceroy 1972 Re-edition
Seems like a slight re-interpretation of the 60 minute/12hr bezel hybrid, which was a rarer, more desirable variant of the Viceroy. I had one earlier this year – looked like this:substitute wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 8:23 amJust curious, why would they reissue something like this and change the tachymeter bezel to a 12-hour?

Right, I actually had the MH bezel on my non-Viceroy Autavia and prefer it to the Tachymeter bezel. I don't often use my watch to measure my driving speeddinexus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 26, 2018 11:49 amSeems like a slight re-interpretation of the 60 minute/12hr bezel hybrid, which was a rarer, more desirable variant of the Viceroy. Owned several of the originals. Think I paid $800. for the last one that I had. Of course that was nearly ten years ago. Can't believe what they're going for now. Almost $6K for a reissue? GTF outa' here!

The watch is in my care now . I’m a fan of the MH bezel as well. I would give the reissue a try , on bracelet , at the right used price.dinexus wrote:Seems like a slight re-interpretation of the 60 minute/12hr bezel hybrid, which was a rarer, more desirable variant of the Viceroy. If there is only a 30min counter it's bad, pairing it with an hour counter is fine.hoppyjr wrote:I’m not a chronograph guy but I thought the consensus was against the 30 minute counter? I seem to recall that feature being criticized on other chronographs.
