New Citizen Promaster Tough
New Citizen Promaster Tough
Did anyone have a chance to see this new Citizen?
It's the Promaster Tough, and it almost looks to have an INOX personality.
With specifications like a 42mm monocoque stainless steel case ( Has no
case-back), with surface hardening treatment, 200m WR, AR coated sapphire
crystal, black, or green dial choices with lumionous markers, and hands, and
either a stainless steel bracelet, or green, or black Cordura ballistic straps.
With the caliber E168 Eco-Drive movement being behind it all.
Just a few pictures...
Wrist Watch Review, and Citizen with even more guys...

This one looks like a winner. Duratect coating! I like the PVD version on the strap.

The review mentioned 22mm lugs, so it would easily nato.HapaHapa wrote:This one looks like a winner. Duratect coating! I like the PVD version on the strap.
I’d go for the black one.

Same here.
No idea if this is a good price or not; $288.99 through 11/20 at Macy's.

Re: New Citizen Promaster Tough
I like these much more than the Inox for several reasons...solar powered (so never need to open the watch for battery changes), a few mm smaller and thinner (there really no reason why the Inox is so big and the movement spacer they must use must be laughably big if you take the back off), and the calibre Citizen uses is much better (I think).
That date window is a bit small though...I think too small. And over 170 grams?! That's a lot.

Honestly, I think the INOX has a bit more personality, but more competition in this space is always great.

If they axed the date, the watch would look so much better. (Just talking aethetics, of course.)
I realize many need/want a date.
And yes, at least more choices now besides the INOX.

I imagine so. It’s a 42mm watch with what looks to be a very solid bracelet.hoppyjr wrote:170 grams on the bracelet?Denizen wrote:

Re: New Citizen Promaster Tough
The PVD looks great, and is the one to have imo, but last thing I need is another affordable beater.
Re: New Citizen Promaster Tough
So probably 90g head only

Was wondering if you'd consider this as a choice. Duratect coating is a sweet plus.deepcdvr wrote:

I like this one. But I don't know if I NEED another beater watch.
Re: New Citizen Promaster Tough
Wow, really glad everyone's liking this one so much. Wasn't sure you guys
would care for it. But thought it had a definite INOX vibe to it, and
that it's just looked plain mean !
The all stainless with the black dial is really cool, but the green dialed,
and all black look pretty 'tough' too !

Re: New Citizen Promaster Tough
Thank you Tom, I think they are both similar in general design. I had a Inox and while nice it was pretty heavy, but I guess that was on purpose since it was made so one can over it with the car etc.
Definitely a no thrills wearer that can get the job done.
I would like some more interesting design personally, maybe a bit of military or pilot flavor...

Don't mention it Carlo ! ..Honestly, wasn't sure if it was actually like the Inox, so it's super cool
to hear from someone who had one. Both the Inox, and the Tough really do have an almost tank,
or truck for the wrist way about them. Just love it !
Oh, and right on about what you said with the design, and maybe seeing a military, or pilot flavor !
Can imagine Citizen adding more models into the Tough collection that have different styles, and
designs in the future sir.
By the way Don, thanks so much for the look at these at Reeds above, and the surprising price too !
