Suggestions for inexpensive dress watch

Ok - I have to wear a suit most days now. In order to fit in with the DC crowd, I spent a few grand on a new wardrobe - decent looking suits that actually fit me, but long story short, zero of my watches fit comfortably under the cuff. I’d like to try a decent (cheap) dress watch. I don’t want to drop a couple grand on one for the trial run; looking for something in the sub 500 range. Bracelet would be a plus, but not having one is not a deal killer.

Any thoughts? Prefer used since I don’t usually buy new. I’ve looked at a few omegas on recon and I’ve occasionally seen some under 5 bills, but they’re like 34mm... The SARB’s look ok - anyone ever had one? Any other suggestions?

I have had a few SARB'S, all excellent watches, lokk good on strap or bracelet, can be tricky to get the roght fot on bracelet. I would suggest anything from the Presage line, lots of color options available, strap & bracelet options. If you decide you are really liking wearing a dress watch, flip it for little to no loss and upgrade. Good luck, keep us posted.

Don't know if I have much to add. The SARB looks like it would good, and Hamilton carries a large number of dress watches as Chris suggested. If you want something a little less dressy that would fit the bill, might be worth looking at the Hamilton khaki field line. Lots of styles come with a bracelet in various sizes from 38 to 44. They can usually be had on the grey market for at or under your budget, and definitely thin enough to fit under a cuff. The 38mm in particular gives a nice Rolex Explorer vibe if you like that look.

It's hard to go back to a suit after being casual for a number of years. DC is one of the few places where everyone still wears them.

Pftt.... It's not the skinniness of the cuff, it's the MASSIVENESS of the python squeezed inside!

When I used to wear a suit, I would go to the tailor to move the button of my left hand cuff to fit my watches... cheaper than a new watch.

I wore some sort of uniform for 30 years, then shifted to the SOF support 'uniform' of tactical pants and polo shirts for 8 years after I retired and became a GS. Now I have a program manager job and have to wear a damn suit and tie at least two weeks out of the month. Wasn't a big deal when I wore off the rack stuff I bought when I retired - and was about 15 lbs heavier - but tailored suits are the norm in my paygrade in DC. To be honest, a well fitting suit is worth the price, but my marinemaster just won't fit.
